Eurovision 2025

Record sales mean fuck all these days, it’s all about the gigs, which is why prices are so high, along with venues charging a fortune.

Plus the fees to get a working visa to tour inside the EU.

Awesome for established bands.

Disastrous for upcoming ones.

Well if its going to be Nil Points from the public every year, and sympathy votes for other countries then whats the point even trying. Get rid of it and just go with the Jurors.
I thought Starmer sucking up to Europe a bit and us helping Ukraine might get us a few more votes, but it seems our unconditional support for Israel means we are still in the dog house.

That the BBC continues to throw millions of our money at this complete farce is absolutely disgusting, the government should stop them from doing it.

I am one of the dwindling few who still pay the license fee and I don’t want my money used this way.
It gets massive ratings for them, so they're obviously going to carry on paying. It's also one of the few things on TV that is growing. I have no time for it myself, but of course they should be airing it.

I don't get why the UK moans about it. We always put in an act that can't even get into the charts in our own country, and then wonder why the rest of Europe don't like it. Some of them have been embarrassing and how many of them actually had a career after Eurovision?

£1million is the cost, roughly. Out of a £5billion income and 25 million licence payers. How would you prefer your 4p spent?

Not sure it’s too much to complain about.

Biggest TV event of the year outside of sport.

Do the magical unicorn people pay anything towards it or do they just take like they usually do? It's frequented by European scousers in the main.

errr ............ we were told Eurovision is a-political hence Israel can be allowed to compete. Then, when they compete and the BBC host doesn't give her back story its all wrong - GB News having a pop at the BBC as usual with a non-story

Eurovision is non political :)

I'm a long time Eurovison fan, but I definitely didn't see that Austrian song as being a winning one beforehand, i didn't even like it . .... and neither did i see the UK entry winning it either.

I actually though the Swedish entry might have done better than its 4th placed finish ....

But Eurovision continues to both intrigue and baffle me just as much as it ever did!

I'd like to see the following changes:

1 vote per phone line/person etc. Currently it's 20 votes which can all be used for the same country. Which is far too many imo.

Get rid of any non European countries. So goodbye Azerbaijan, Israel and Australia. It's a European contest.

It’s a Eurovision contest entered by broadcasters not countries, so subtly different from a European contest.

As I feared, the audience did not truly appreciate the genius of KAJ's "Bara bada bastu" and it will be the taxpayers of an Austrian conurbation that will foot the bill for next years event.

Well I thought it was definitely one of the better entries, that's for sure ..... it would have got my vote ahead of that dreadful whining Austrian offering, or the weak UK entry .... but you just never quite know what to expect with Eurovision!

It was never any good even when we were winning it. It was always a joke.
Nowadays we never qualify which is a great excuse not to bother watching.

But without wishing to cause offence, I seriously thought that for quite some time now, it was a competition that if not explicitly for gays, was only really watched by that audience.
