Manchester City are looking for a happier season than close season. Unsuccessful bids for Joe Baker and John Charles mean that the club have made no major close season signings although several promising juniors have joined the staff.
Disappointment too, that Denis Law is going to Old Trafford has been widely felt although every best wish goes out to the player for a successful and happy career with United.
Nonetheless form in pre-season matches suggested that the exciting development of the clubs younger players is continuing and that it could be the basis of a successful if not world-breaking season for the Blues.
The defence looks rugged on paper and Bert Trautmann, in his last season seems to have lost little if any of his remarkable powers between the posts. The attack could do with strengthening although Peter Dobing came on a ton towards the end of last season.
With £80,000 in the bank, only 29 full professionals on the book and lacking an experienced specialist centre-forward, City are prepared to bid high when good players become available.
If this is in the wrong place please move.............Just thought I'd share.
