Ever had to stand/sit in opposing fans' area?

I've had to do it numerous times but the most notable were

Scum away when Denis did his back heel
Both Luton, no away fans allowed, and Leeds in 91/92
York away, believe it or not!

Brighton away '83. In their paddock, keeping relatively quiet. Kevin Reeves scored 10 mins from the end and the whole side of the pitch erupted. More City than Brighton.

Oh and another one. York away, I was at the side, very close to where Craig Russell scored. I have no idea how come I ended up sat in there, I just can't recall to this day, where I got my ticket from.

I was in the Shed end when Jim Tolmie curled in the winner at Stamford Bridge. We were in the ground early and nearly gave ourselves away at the shock of Concorde flying over the Stadium. It probably left Heathrow at the same time every week and as all games kicked off at 3pm in those days, the home fans will a have seen it many times and didn't give it a second look.

The swamp when Law scored to send them down, the swamp when we lost 2-1 in the early/mid 90s.
The Kop at Klanfield when we won 3-1 on Boxing Day, the Kemlyn Road at Klanfield when we lost 5-2 the following season.
Saw us win a couple of times from the top tier of the big bugger stand at Goodison.
And one or two others.

I always preferred to stand up where possible, but for some reason we made a late decision to go in the Kemlyn Road seats for that 5-2 game. It wasn't unusual to have a cash turnstile in those days. I believe it turned out to be a very wise decision, as reports afterwards indicated that there was a load of bother outside at the end. We walked back to the car, which was behind the Kop and saw nothing. No mither.

-- Sat Sep 14, 2013 11:42 am --

I've done it quite a few times, including leaping out of my seat when Ched Evans/own goal went in, in the last minute at Midtjylland, but the weirdest one was at Maine Road. It was the last game of the season in '96 against Liverpool and I'd only decided in the morning whether I could face it.
Tickets were scarce outside and I picked up a ticket from a tout, about 10 minutes before kick off. It was 40 quid which was probably about three or four times the face value in those days. When he offered it to me, he said it was for the North Stand and I never considered it would be in the away section until I started looking for the block number. I sat there quiet for most of the game and only found out about 10 minutes from the end, that the lad sat next to me was also a blue. The scousers were quite humorous that day and were only concerned with what the rags were doing at Middlesbro. They all seemed to want City to stay up. I remember Rosler missing a header from point blank range and one of them said 'A man with no head would have scored that!' I had to agree and started laughing. I was thinking Christ, we're going down and I'm sat here laughing! We were pathetic that day! As the whistle blew, I thought Jesus, we are down and if the City fans start kicking off, I could get a battering outside as well. I had no colours on and was relieved to get away from the turnstiles and onto the Kippax car park and amongst other blues. What surprised me the most was that I 'd hardly said a word for the previous two hours and had no colours on yet when I left the ground, a scouser said to me 'I hope you come straight back up'. To this day, I'm still not sure how he knew I was a City fan. I'm sure some of you out there will have some answers!

Tie-dye t-shirt, Joe Bloggs Baggies and fishing hat or shell suit top, stonewashed jeans, Curly perm and 'tache?

Boro away, in 1990 or 1991 - twice. Both cup games (living away and had a pal who was a smoggie). League cup nearly called off due to fog and Mickey Thomas got done for his dodgy tenners on the day of the FA cup game. Matches considerably less memorable....

Also in the wrong end at the Hawthorns and Gay Meadow, at some point in the eighties.

Liverpool away. Was thinking what would I do if we scored beforehand. Carl Griffiths then goes and scores after about 20 secs(?) jumped up and was getting evils so shouted Manc ... and started waving me arms around like i was pi$$ed off.
Thought I hid it pretty well but when the Scouse scored in injury time to win it, they started laughing at me. Thye were fairly decent to be honest, not sure what would have happend if we'd won.

Two of us in the Kop that day as well!

Been in with opposition fans loads of times. Swamp, Ewood, Burnden Park, Emirates, Anfield, Brittania, Stamford Bridge, Molyniuex, Bloomfield Rd.

Had a few hairy moments but the only place I got a twatting was the Swamp (twice)

-- Sat Sep 14, 2013 1:17 pm --

In hospitality for the 6-1 at the swamp. Had to keep my gob shut as the big Irishman in front of me (who looked like Paddy off big fat gypsy wedding) kept shouting over at the City fans 'Blue *****' and giving various other abuse.
Kept quiet until the 3rd went in around 70 minutes and he and quite a few nearby got up and left (with a bit of abuse to his own team)
Actually applauded the 4th and with dwindling numbers, felt safe enough to stand up and celebrate the last 2 goals.
I think they were too stunned to give me a dig.

The other time at Bradford in 97/98. I was doing a job for a sponsor and he got me 4 tickets. Me, my 2 bro in laws and a mate all went. Had a drink with the Bradford fans beforehand - no problems.
Went and found our seats, slap bang in the middle of the home fans.
No trouble but when City scored and we stood and cheered, the stewards came and moved us near to the City fans but still in the home section.

Swamp away when mike summerbee scored the only goal, city came out first for the warm up ran toward the Stratford end which i was in, reds were going mad, singing I'd walk a million miles to the end of your nose mike summerbee, mike then pointed to his nose, then came Francis lee has got vd halliloooooya then franny looked down into his shorts to a loud cheer, to finish off with mike doyles a bastard to which mike waved to them totally unconcerned, great day to which city controlled the whole game.

Believe it or believe it not I've sat at Maine Road in the away stand amongst the pie eaters for the 2nd leg of the playoff final!!

Went to old Trafford when we lost and the guy behind got kicked out for been a blue and I had to sit on my hands because I was sat with my boss!?!

Went to old Trafford once (when we really shite) to sit in the Arsenal end) just to watch them bastards loose the league (it was a crunch game at the end of the season) I hate Arsenal, but hate that lot more. Great evening and got a chant of 'oh Man City the only football team to come from Manchester' going

Been in a few namely Sheffield U, Leicester C, Stockport, Oldham, Bradford, Grimsby, Walsall and Chelsea.

Leicester and Sheff United were dodgy. I think Wanchope scored an equaliser for City at Filbert Street and I was in there main section behind the goal. Luckily I was at the back of the stand when we scored so most of the natives didn't see me jump up unlike a few City fans below me who had a few scuffles. Sheff U was a drab 0-0 but was dodgy at half time when I attempted to get a beer and some boke noticed my accent, I said I was a blade from Glossop which he obviously knew was bulls**t. Him and a few big lads were behind me second half and im sure waiting to pounce on me if City scored.

The only place I've been smacked was at Stockport when we drew 2-2 and Jamie Pollock scored an equaliser, I jumped up in the Cheadle End and got a few digs for my over exuberance

In with the Villa fans when Lescott scored the winner, i was quiet all game with the Villa fans gobbing off about our money etc etc etc but jumped up when we scored and not one of the fuckers said a word.
Also in with the Spuds fans at the 81 cup final, that wasn't a good experience but a copper noticed the shit we were getting and walked us around the old greyhound track down to the City end.
The worst though was at Anfield in 81? when Big Joe got bottled, i went fucking mad and got a few clouts before i was kicked out.

Done it at the swamp, qpr, west ham, Luton, Huddersfield, port vale, Wycombe, Liverpool,. Funnily enough Luton was the craziest. Andy Morrison scored and blues cheered all around me. Locals weren't happy. Scuffles everywhere.

I went to Lu Macarri's testimonial when i was a nipper. My mate had tickets and i only went for the Half Time 5-a-side match that included a MCFC side.

West Ham every time we played them since about 2006, Ipswich in 1st division (great little story with that one), Chelsea in an executive box, Norwich, also Charity Shield v rags I was in our end but we sold so little tickets I was surrounded by twatty Bristol accented cunts that smelt like bad cat aids

Once in a box at WHU, once at the rags (goalless draw under KK ten years ago where I think Alan Smith got sent off for them), that was funny, nearly got blown early doors but just about got away with it. My personal favourite though was last season at WBA, watching our lads jump around like seals in the away end as Dzeko struck the winner and you could see the goal coming in slow motion for about 10 seconds before it hit the net, beautiful. Hid my head in hands when it went in so as not to reveal the big grin on my face.

Leeds lost 3/0
Peter Reid took pen hit post and put rebound in jumped up to celebrate as flag went up
Fans ok just took the piss:x
Also in with rags when Steve Mackenzie scored winner at Maine Road
