Everton (A) | Game Postponed

Why are you waffling on about timings? These things happen very quickly and there was only 48 hours between our fixtures.

Here are your three points:

1) The total players City would have out for the game would NOT be enough to postpone the game

2) City waited until the last minute to announce the cases and then be vague because they knew this would allow for a postponement

3) City are doing this basically because they would have lost several key players at the very last minute which would put them at a disadvantage in a huge game but they agreed to the rules for COVID so they should have to deal

The first one suggests we have broken rules.

The second one suggests we manipulated the timings to suit an agenda (God, the irony of that statement).

The third one suggests our motivation was not safety of all concerned. In fact it says more than that, it infers that Everton are annoyed that an opportunity to take advantage of the situation has been taken from them.

Like I said show some class, this is the kind of reaction I would expect from the coach wreckers, you are better than that.
Given the propensity of players of certain teams to try to gain advantage by throwing themselves to the ground screaming in agony l can see some unscrupulous teams doing the opposite to City. Signs of a potential outbreak being kept quiet so they can play an easy match to win or not lose points. Then the virus spreads but what do they care? Money is everything.

I'm wondering if Bein, Sky, BT and whoever else has broadcasters has a brain at all.

The game isn't important, the pandemic and handling it is, a fact lost on all the media, broadcasters and whatever else.

City should be applauded for not wanting to put Everton players, staff & fans at risk, instead there's a nonsense conspiracy being sprouted instead or pushed.

Football isn't important, it isn't life or death even at times it feels that way.
This is the same media continually asking for stricter lock downs, berating the unwashed masses for going to the beaches in hot weather, calling for fines for people not wearing a mask and showing photos of young people goi g out for a drink over Christmas, when they are allowed.
This has nothing to do with safety because, if it was they should say it’s a responsible decision to stop the spread of infection within City and to Everton.
But no, they‘re using the pandemic to have sly and unwarranted digs at City from their paymasters.

Ridiculous statement from a club with no class
This country is in the middle of a pandemic with more people in hospital than in April.
Players have mums, wives and children. If 6/7 of the squad have it then you do a full lockdown/isolation
If it was a school class they would all be sent home for 10 days.
I just think this will act as a motivation for us, just shows Everton don’t believe they can beat us

I will stop reading efc statement it's an embarrassment to football. Basically calling City liers in the middle of an out of control pandemic its pathetic.
It sounds like efc want the game to go ahead even if it meant playing our under 11's. Everton seem happy to risk their players and staff safety by forcing City to play when City clearly dont know who has caught covid19. City could have passed it on to efc players and staff but efc seem happy to take that risk. Reading their statement it's all about them and how hard done by they were without any thought the well fair of the opponents or their own staff !!
It's funny how quickly you can go of a club, must be something in their water

Who ever came up with the Everton Statement seriously needs a hiding! No mention whatsoever about the welfare of our players or even their players!!! Only about them being ready, their fans being ready, them regretting and bla bla bla. This was not a statement, it was more like a dig at us as a club.

To tell you the truth I never even noticed that Newcastle and Aston Villa game was postponed meanwhile our game with Everton has become the front story of every media outlet! And then they say there is no agenda!!

So sad that money is always ahead of the welfare of the players!!

It sounds to me that Everton dont believe City or the premier league reason for the postponement of the game. Also I thought Everton had a bit more about them than LFC, but the fact that in their statement they dont wish any of our players and staff well, shows I was wrong. Personally I find it in bad taste. The statement is all about them, how unfair it is on the 2k fans , and on their players that were getting ready for the match. No thought for the City players and staff or their families . Very shabby

Everton Football Club regret the postponement of tonight’s match against Manchester City – not only for the 2,000 fans who would have been attending, but for supporters on Merseyside and across the world.

Our players were prepared for the game, as were both the team staff and everyone at Goodison. Matchday is the most important date in our calendar. And this was a big one.

Whilst Everton will always have public safety uppermost, we will be requesting full disclosure of all the information that Manchester City provided to the Premier League so the Club can be clear on why this decision was taken.
The release from Everton is a pure ‘victim’ statement, nothing more, nothing less.

Thought better of them as a club but good to see it hasn’t translated to the majority of their fans, especially on here.

Agree you could have removed efc from the statement and replaced with lfc ! It's like efc hacked lfc computers and cut and paste the letter ;) lolol
