The coach is the conductor of the orchastra,sets the beat, rhythym and pace.
The orchastra follows the conductor or is out of tune.
Our players are playing to Peps rhythym which is too slow, predictable and so easy to defend against now.
Everton set up to allow Ake and Akanji to have possession knowing they were slow and could'nt pass killer balls.
Ortega had no one else to pass to cos Phil, Bernardo & Kova were not making themselves available to receive the ball deep.
We played to the beat of a funeral drum....AGAIN....AGAIN....AGAIN....
and the players are playing to the instructions of the conductor.
Again the substitutions were at least 15/20 minutes too late.
Doku cant play or concentrate for 60 minutes,so sub him on 50 minutes, NOT 78 !!
I could go on and on but, until we change most elements of our structure,tactics and game mananagement, not much will improve.
End of a magnificent, glorious era !!

Up to the Villa game I thought like you but today and Villa there wasn’t 100% effort there from the players and for me I think there’s problems behind the scenes and those players lack effort for the managerThey do care, you can clearly see they care as they are trying. They have not downed tools. Just look at players like Gvardiol. There was an occasion in the 1st half where he got sold a dummy and Everton got in behind us. He was disgusted with himself . They do care and they are trying. We are just not good enough at the moment.

If they used to go and sing their hearts out but were priced out of it by the club, I think they’re perfectly entitled to moan about the atmosphere.

I hear you, but the kdb I saw at the Euros had good enough legs and can still do a job for us, remember he played 3 months with a hamstring tear at the end of 23/24 he needs to be managed better in terms of game time, didn't he look good against N'Forest?
He's been looking like a passenger in most games over the last couple of seasons.
Those 'moments of brilliance' are fewer and further between. I've said before that imo he's now a ten minute player. One who may come off the bench and just get us over the line every now and then.
This season has been the chance for Phil Foden to step up in the KDB role, but he hasn't. He's not looked anywhere near as capable.
Pep could have tried Jack Grealish in the role, but it seems that he doesn't trust him in the middle.
Cole Palmer was probably the best lad for the job, but hey ho, that's not happening.

We were vulnerable to counter attacks last season and conceded daft goals. The difference this season is we’re not taking our chances . If we had won 4-1 today ( which we could have) the atmosphere on here would be more positive. Injuries and poor summer transfer market have buggered us up. Not having much luck isn’t helping.That was my perspective, but we are, as sadly seems to be the case every game, worryingly vulnerable to counter attack even against a team as evidently limited as Everton. Bottom line IF Erling scores the penalty and Bernardo strikes the ball properly we win, probably easily. Sadly IF is this season's in word. I didn't really see a lack of effort but I did see a lack of confidence and composure, poor decision making and multiple errors. It's difficult I know but getting on their case, whilst totally understandable, isn't going to help. Just hoping we get our real team back soon, this drop off is remarkable.

I thought we mostly played OK today, bar one or two players. The problem is from where we wer playing before this run started and now, the margins are small, a pass we completed 99% then, we're now only 95%, and so they are taking less risk. It's a bit of a chicken or egg question.
Today we were undone by some shit defending, but overall I thought the defence played quite well, not sure who it was who kicked or headed the ball straight up before their equaliser, but that was poor defending, the ball over the top of Gvardiol was a good ball, but compounded by a sloppy pass in the build up.
We went in at 1-1 at HT, when realistically we should have been 3-0 up by then, and they probably don't score that, and we'd probably defend it a whole lot better.
Players today who I thought played quite well, Bernardo, Ake, Kovacic, Lewis (poor on the goal - ball watching), Ortega and Akanji didn't do much wrong either.
Players who I thought wre quite poor, Haaland, Savinho, Doku (who was at least trying his best, but just makes the wrong decision nearly every time). Gvardiol head went after the goal, and though he did some good things still his confidence looks shot.
I'm most worried about Foden though, yes he's badly out of form, but he doesn't seem to know what his role is, and was often hiding behind their players.
Of the subs, I didn't think any did much useful, apart from Simpson-Pusey who looked comfotable enough.
I just think it's small margins mostly, we're drawing games we would have won 6 months ago, and losing games we'd have drawn, but we've been quite ordinary most of the season even before this run. The one really stand out dreadful result was spurs, who frankly weren't great, and have been poor since.

Phil played a tremendous ball to Haaland that he fucked and put one on a platter for Bernardo...it's just not happening for us...Didnt say he did tbf but he is our best creator and thunderbastards now and again, it was right to try him at the end of the game . Until somebody gets creating he will continue to be given some mins . Phil should be that person but he is struggling to do anything at the moment we have lost peak kev, peak gundy , both creators

Don't disagree at all. We have always been vulnerable as you will know because not being vulnerable for us is dependent on ball retention which this season has been less reliable. Cannot comment on the summer market because I have absolutely no idea what we tried or how close we came to signing anybody. Exactly — bit puzzled by those who think this performance was “just like” the others; we were trying new things today — route 1, faster tempo, dribbling AT defenders — not things I’d seen much of any of for two months. Had we taken either Bernie’s gaping-net chance or the pen we’d all be talking about stopping the bleeding and something to build on (not to mention that their lone goal was a very good strike). As it was even this draw at home against a shit team IS stopping the bleeding and something to build on. That’s how far we’ve fallen — it’s a long, long drop to be fair, both because we were so high and because we are now just that bad. I can’t be arsed opening up a new thread but as this pertains to some events today may as well tag onto this thread.
Prematch tribute to former players and staff from both clubs, obviously a lot of effort had gone into this tribute and it was very well received, however, once again the minutes silence was fucked up by a lack of coordination between City staff managing late arrivals and those presenting the tribute, also in CBL1 a loud whining machine like noise from the back of the stand and then what sounded like shutters coming down at the bars. I mean, it shouldn’t be that difficult.
Then in the second half, once again large banging and clanking coming through the PA system, it sounded like someone had left their mobile MIC on and was having a shit.
Like I said, could these fuckers organise a piss up in a brewery…

I’m sorry but I don’t agree. Today was absolutely more of the same. Sterile possession with no cutting edge, the midfield being bypassed with one pass and dreadful defending.
