Everton (H) Post Match Thread

must admit surprised how tricky he was, must be something why he doesn't play more

I do not get why he doesn't start above Walcott. He is a fantastic young player and whilst he might not work as hard defensively yet, as he may be required to, givve him a chance. Walcott has consistently been inconsistent his entire career. Let Lookman have a run in the team.

Back to our result. Thought it was excellent after such a short turnaround. A good win and although it wasn't perfect or comfortable throughout it was solid against a team that kept Chelsea at bay and Liverpool out until Pickford made the biggest cock up in many a year.

Rotate for Leicester in the cup and Palace at home is a full week of recovery for most which is nice. Pressure back on Liverpool.

You’re entitled to your opinion obviously, however I just think you’re plain wrong. The guy was quite rightly talked about as being the best right back in the Prem last season, and one of the best in Europe.

Of course he’s not got the best technical ability, of say a Dani Alves, but generally he is an awesome defender with pace to burn that saves us plenty of times.
Fair enough and I hope you are right. I am not willing the guy to be a failure, nor meaning to be overly harsh. I'm just calling it as I see it. His brain farts which either cost us or nearly cost us a goal are no longer random events - they happen every game and sometimes more than once. Simple passes going astray in our own half, losing possession in dangerous areas, switching off, being hideously out of position - it's every game mate.

Absolutely spot-on and if people can’t see this they are watching with their eyes closed.

I’m sure that Kyle is aware of his current form, players tend to be their own worse critics

What’s the point of a forum if you can’t criticise a player? If you can’t criticise then you can’t praise

Not Gabbys biggest fan but thought he was outstanding yesterday, maybe his best game for us? Credit where it's due. Great to see Kev back again, like a few others have said it's not about the teams performance at this time of year, just pick up the points and move on to the next game

Indeed! There were many more people in it in the first half but second half it emptied. Wouldn’t have been surprised if they hadn’t gone home it was that cold and wet.

Had to laugh at the Tunnel Club people with those plastic rain covers on! £400 to get pissed wet through and freeze your bollocks off.

It was brutal walking back to the car. Took me an hour to warm up when I got home

I've rarely felt colder at a game up in Colin Bell 3, despite having several layers on, and that biting wind did make it a touch difficult on the way back to the motor

With regard to the team's performance, quite a few of those blokes wearing short sleeved shirts and shorts misplaced a couple of passes - there's really no excuse for it is there?

Was that the commotion on level one ? There was also something going on in level three a bit later on. but couldn't see what was going on from my seat !
It was in 110 maybe 109. Two Everton fans probably found out for their accent etc. They were game as hell. Punching the air to the Everton fans who loved it. While City fans were raining in windmills and punches. It was actually the highlight for me as well. They nearly made it safe when a load more lads threw in punches. They didnt look hurt and will live off that for awhile.
There was an Everton fan who collapsed in their end anybody know what happened to him?

First opportunity to see Lookman for Everton, very promising winger - for me, the only opposition player that was capable of consistently causing problems for City
I've always wondered why Walcott and Bernard get game time ahead of Lookman.

One of the not-to-intelligent decisions by Marco Silva imo.

We weren't at full pitch yesterday at all and had more than enough for Everton, who are a tricky side for all the top teams. I don't think we had a real standout performance, bar Jesus. 2 goals and an assist today, ran their back three ragged with his movement. His touch around one of their centre backs was wonderful.

It's great to pick up results this time of year but some of our players form is worrying. Otamendi was dreadful I thought. Passed it to them for the goal, has fallen back into his old habit of diving in first, defending later. Need him to copy on if Vinny isn't a viable option. Laporte alongside him is absolute top gravy. Walker is in very poor form, I think he has a knock. Looks a yard slower, his touch in the 18 yard box for their first chance was schoolboy.

Bernardo looks a bit off as well.
