Everton (H) Post-Match Thread

Fair play to the manager today. Gave Foden and Garcia decent game time, the team looked organised again, great start to the new year.

I think it has flaws and doesnt work as it should i agree....i dont think its deliberate cheating however.

I haven’t made my mind up on it yet.

A couple things in the negative box...
Scudamore has gone on record to say he wants a new name on the league every few years, so I wouldn’t put cheating beneath them.
There have been massive betting rings/match fixing implications in foreign football leagues...yet PL/English League...the biggest in the world is squeaky clean....apparently

on a positive note....
I can absolutely believe they are so incompetent as to have implemented a technology without properly understanding it’s limitations and without having a good repeatable, clear process devoid of operator error.

Maybe they will say sorry to the blades at the end of the season and offer to make up the lost points/revenue due to VAR negative bias ......

on the other hand maybe they won’t....

1. Mahrez was offside, correct decision.
2. My reading, the linesman flagged for offside but VAR overruled this. The ball is then handled by Mahrez, so free kick awarded to Everton, correct decision.
3. Time keeping nothing to do with VAR.
4. Foden penalty, on field decision.
5. Calvart Lewin red card, on field decision.
I must admit, I’d like to see the Foden one again, we could be in clear and obvious error territory with that one, so maybe should have been overruled.
Mate you just don't get or haven't read what I put. You just read what you wanted to read. No worries though. Cant be bothered discussing the thing anymore. It's killed the game for me and I don't go anymore as a result after 45 years of going so you crack on if you like it. Each to their own.

No problem at all mate. Just remember before VAR came in there was thread after thread on here about how we were being screwed over by the on field officials, and something needed to be done about it...

Great performance bar Bravo.
The guy is a joke, I would rather have had Scott Carson or even Kyle Walker in goal.
The Everton goal was simply due to his error yet again, I fail to see what pep sees in him.

PEP We played top. Delighted with the performance. I think it was offside (Foden's goal). VAR was well applied - not like other situations where we have been punished this season.

PEP @gabrieljesus33 has been excellent, but @aguerosergiokun is irreplaceable. What he means for our fans, what he's done, the goal against QPR, we need a good back-up for all the players and Sergio has a great complimentary player in Gabriel. They have a great relationship.

we are a ticking time bomb waiting to go off and we will hurt somebody, but its coming back slowly and you see see the togetherness in the players and manager in this trying time, we just need that spark ? something to start us up again and a big win in the cup's coming up and then champions league in feb

everton was poor today and there players look lost in the managers idea's ?? it looks a big job if everton think they can make top 4 or even top 6 in the next couple of seasons

4 and 5 are checked by var and can over turn the ref and has been doing so for a couple of months

There were also lots of people saying it might get worse, it has.
Refereeing mistakes are being corrected by VAR. The main issue is with the marginal offsides. There needs to be a margin for error applied to these decisions imo.

How many inches have you got in mind? Cos whatever you decide, that will then just become the new battleground won’t it?

They probably accessed both incidents and couldn’t see a clear and obvious error. Foden penalty I’d like to see again, the red card is a matter of opinion. In any case, the on field decision stood so we were no worse off.

Clear and obvious went out of the window months ago, they are looking at goals, pens, red cards and mistaken identity, they refused to overturn the ref decisions till recently and now they can do it for anything
