Poor performance. The challenge on Haaland 20 seconds in set the tone, that game was difficult to watch and that's what Everton set out to do and they got their result.
We were poor. It followed a similar pattern to the Brentford game. We had a tonne of possession but it's all pass backwards and sideways and into the middle which is clogged up by the back 5-10 of the opponent. The inverted full backs are adding to that congestion, and then Mahrez and Grealish (who I thought played well today) both cutting inside amplifies the issue. It ends with us just relying on a magic ball from De Bruyne and he was off it today, 3 games so quickly together is to much for him at 31 years old, that's obvious to anyone and we appear devoid of ideas. We lack width to get the ball in the box to Haaland. Our full backs don't over lap, doesn't change with Walker or Cancelo in the line up, Gomez isn't ready and we don't have any wingers with pace at all. It's a worry as that's all we'll face at home is the same issue.
League isn't over, far from it but at this stage Arsenal are the best team in it, table at this stage doesn't lie and we need to pick it up quickly. The tough fixtures coming up will likely be the best thing for us.
Onto Chelsea now.
