So, as a newbie seat counter with limited experience, can anyone explain why they go greyed out, then back to red, and have say a single ticket appear from nowhere? I mean, the guy who was pissing about buying 302 seat L47 was in/out, sold/not sold, did my seat counting no end of damage..

Well City are now officially missing out on sales as there is nothing left but a couple of restricted view on the front row, which many wouldn't buy and would decide to watch on telly.

The top clubs didn't enter the League Cup in the early years and if they did many would put out a reserve team.It was the semis, but the League Cup was in its infancy then and was regarded more like the Full Members Cup was in the 80s. Plus as Gary said City were struggling in the second tier at the time and crowds were down anyway.
The first final was between Villa and Rotherham and the second between Norwich and Rochdale.
That season City beat a Leeds United reserve team 3-1 in the League Cup 4th Round at Maine Road in front of 10,984 while they had 29,186 for the corresponding League fixture.
It only started to gain credibility when they switched the Final to Wembley instead of running it over two legs.
Maybe they should run the semi-final as a single match, the home team determined by draw.
