EXCLUSIVA....

At first I was very sceptical on whether Neymar would be a good fit, but it is worth the gamble. As LC said the likes of Silva, Mata, Cazorla and Oscar are settling down in the Premier League. We will have a potentially World Class player in our ranks and it will increase our profile and will sell shirts. The only problem is we will have to beat both Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign him.

I just can's see us outmuscle El Clasico sides on this.

It's very hard to get South American if those two want him.

Sunny spain or rainy manchester?
Brazilians don't have a good time in Manchester I fear it could be problematic but major coup if we can get him seriously...

I agree with other posts, just do not think at the minute that we have the pull of the established CL winners (excluding chelsea) yet. IMO Neymar will end up at one of Barca or Madrid.

If I were to put money on it I would go with Real.

However if as reports suggest that the lad does not intend to leave Santos until after 2014, if we can establish ourselves properly in the CL then we may be able to entice him over to our club with Txiki arranging the deal.

The small advantage is he would be top dog here, not playing second fiddle. Best player I've ever seen in the flesh, the best possible signing we could make.

Hm, not sure.. I can't see why he would be considered top dog in front of Yaya, Kompany, Aguero.. until he earn it.

If Txiki is down there to talk about Neymar, it's likely only to listen to what options we would have if planning a bid for him. I think he is Barca-bound and will go there this summer, as already agreed.
Maybe he'll take a look at one or two other players while down there.

As LC so clearly put it in his excellent post, Neymar would be brilliant business financially in spite of his high transfer fee. But would he really be happy here? I'm afraid I don't think so. Playing with Messi and Iniesta in beautiful Barcelona and Spain seems like a very attractive prospect to me.

The main thing is...txiki has gone out there to try and what looks like sign the next world cup star..

At the beginning of his career....whats not to like..

I agree the next big marketing star and dont forget the nike deal we have..we need a name to go with this kit deal...

Neymar is the best signing this club could make (besides the impossible - Messi) no matter what the price.

That was Eden Hazard imo.

Hazard would have been a great signing who we should have gone balls out for but Neymar offers far more from a marketing perspective. Which may not interest many fans, after all it isn't their money, but the brass at City will be interested in players who can not only deliver on the pitch (as Neymar can) but can make a fortune off it. Look at Ronaldo, paid back his world record fee in one season at Madrid and has made them god knows how much revenue since. Neymar is money.
