I've paid my dues !
Just noticed the outer casing on my back box is peppered with a few big holes ( not the inner one and it`s not blowing ).

The MOT is due in a few weeks and was wondering if I can use some heat resistant type silver tape or similar to tape around it ?

Failing that where I can pick up a new/used one in South Manchester ?

Bit of a p1sser really as the garage I bought it from obviously passed it but there`s no way that much damage can be done in 12 months and under 6,000 miles of driving I wouldn`t have thought.

my lads went on his car after looking about for prices the best deal was on ebay, go on there buy your part and let your garage fit it before the mot

Normally I would Marco ( although fit it myself) but a bit skint tbh and I`ve a feeling the rear brakes may need doing aswell which will probably clean me out.

Cheers mate, a mate does MOT`s for coaches and mentioned some stations are ok with it (as long as there`s no blowing) others will fail it. I guess I`ll just get some heat resistant tape and see, if they fail it I`ll have to buy the back box.

Cheers.

i have an 04 astra.
a new back box was £40 if i needed it. and its one bolt to take the flange off.
could be different for your car though!!

Can't fail it mate. as long as it's not blowing and it's secure it can't fail.
