Explosion at MEN Arena/Victoria Station

You know what pisses me off?
Trying to blame "religion" for such incidents, and that's from someone who is as atheist as you could imagine.

If you are too PC and cowardly to name and shame the only religion that produces nutters and obnoxious "my religion is the only true one etc etc" followers in massive numbers,
At least dont malign other religions, whose followers are now merely foolish, not dangerous.

I know religious people, Christians, hindu, Sikh, jew - they keep their beliefs to themselves, dont bother others, dont go around believing others are less deserving.

The whole shebang should be outlawed. It's an outdated means of controlling an ignorant populace.

I was raised Jesuit catholic and remember the religion classes saying if you werent catholic you were going to hell.

Personally, I believe we live in a hologram. I don't go around telling people though because I sound like a fucking idiot. Just like every other person talking about their beliefs does.

Religion is still being used to control the world, with a them vs us narrative. Time for people to grow the fuck up and think for themselves rather than some old books informing their thought processes, written by folk who werent smart enough to invent toilet roll.

At least if you took religion out of the equation, it would be one less thing for idiots to hide their sickness behind.

I'll ask though how could anyone see the arrest of a known ISIS/ISIL sympathizer as being wrong? I am talking about removing people who have not yet done anything but are clearly involved in doing, I am sick of us being reactive instead of preventative. The simple answer to those who would feel wronged is transparency, all we have to do is present the evidence. If anyone still sees it is wrong then clearly we have a massive problem on our hands.

Indeed. I've heard this hand wringing claptrap too often, If arresting sympathisers of this evil medieval cult
upsets some of their fellow sympathisers, then tough shit. It seems some have the view we mustn't react positively to
atrocities, in case we upset those who have sympathy with the perpetrators, who will then be inspired to commit one.

Now we're into the days after the atrocity, mainstream and social media have become a car crash of confusion, fear, anger, hatred, sensationalism and outright bigotry.

Which as well as wholesale murder was entirely the objective of the attack in the first place.

Think it was Andy Burnham on the radio this morning he's been talking to the authorities and the figure 3000 people of interest was mentioned in what capacity I don't know. It's a huge problem and no easy solution however getting shut of the most hardened radicals of this 3000 figure could be a start something has to be done.
Andy Burnham would have to ask MEND first, he likes talking to them

Not bringing his service record into doubt at all but his politics and answer to the issue we have right now was plain fucking stupid!

What exactly is wrong and stupid with saying if they are not from this country then they
should be sent back to their own country. He was discussing persons who are considered a threat to our children.

So how do we over time, persuade people that these literal interpretations of the Quran are similarly flawed? It would seem to me that Isis and others are not much different to how we were 500 years ago, and that enlightenment will occur naturally in time. The question is, how do we accelerate the process?
We can't. It's law in Saudi, its law in Qatar.

My wife teaches the Uk curriculum to locals here but she is not allowed to reference any other religion than Islam. The word of Allah is final. They are taught at age 6 that non believers "will burn in the fire". There is zero dialogue or opening up of other ideas.

The West can do nothing about such education of impressionable minds. The US cosies up to both for arms deals and oil. And it's not like the US higher ups are without their own religious fanatics either.

Absolutely bang on. I am so thankful my girlfriend and her friends got home safely, but their firsthand accounts of the evening are heartbreaking. I can't begin to imagine seeing their words with my own eyes. We need to prevent this again, and that means we need action.

By 'crazies' do you mean people who don't agree with you?

No I mean the crazies. The ones who are full of impotent action and have a shameful lack of understanding about any form of humanity to the point where I'm thinking of getting buzzer on the case.
