Eccles of course! Just Eccles!!
Hi Folks,
My laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD slot and I want to put my music CDs on to the laptop so that I can listen to them during the day when I am 'working' on the laptop.
I've been on the websites. John Lewis, Currys, Amazon etc looking at external hard drives and just get bogged down and mind blown by all the technical jargon. All I want to do is to be able to transfer my music CDs, copy my photos onto a CD or USB flash drive (?) but I am confused. (No smart remarks at the back please! :-) )

Any advice would be most helpful.
Thank you kind folk.

If the files are already on a laptop, you only need an external HDD drive to get them off and store them (ones that are 1TB in size should be pretty cheap these days). https://www.amazon.co.uk/External-H...e_browse-bin:10625607031&c=ts&ts_id=430544031

If the files aren't on the laptop yet, get hold of one of these: - it's USB CD drive. It works the same as an old CD drive, you just have to plug it into your laptop first.

Oh, thank you @youngbob that looks ideal, I just got bogged down. I can order that in the next 3 hours and it will be delivered on Thursday.
Thank you, you are a star. My old laptop had the CD slot and I didn't think about checking with this one.

Thanks a million. :-)

Check your laptop. I bought the same one then realised all my ports were USB c type. Had to buy an adapter.

The one is the picture is USB A

Thank you, you can understand why I get confused. It was so much easier with a BBC computer or an RM which we used to use in schools when I first started training teachers way, way, way back!! I will check that. :-)

The BBC computer, that took me back :)

The external DVD/CD recordable drive below has connectors for both full size USB ports and type C which may be a better option if you're not sure. Just ignore the rewritable bits.

Thank you @Centurions I'll go for that one.

I have a DASE (Diploma in Advanced Studies in Education) for Computer training but that was over 35 years ago so...... :-)
