I'm after a new one. I want one over 1TB but don't want to pay over about £120. I also don't want a shite one that is slow on the data transfer point as I'll be streaming media from it over my network.

Any recommendations?

I've got a 1TB Seagate expansion external drive. Works fine but it gets power off the mains meaning it's not so portable. I think the equivalent one getting power off USB is a lot slower.

There's nothing at Morgancomputers at the moment, where I usually pick up end of line stuff from.

Try Pixmania too.

There was a flood at a place where lots of hard drive makers have their assembly lines that has apparently affected supplies

Sorry to hijack damocles, anyone know where I can get a very cheap thingy to put my old encrypted HDD in once my new laptop gets encrypted on Monday so I can get all my files off it.

http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-hardware/all/hard-drives-ext/enclosure-(35-525)-sata make sure its the right size though so your hard drive will most likely be a 3.5
How can I check? Is it literally unscrew it and measure?

Upload a picture Ill tell you what it is.

I got a 1TB buffalo one recently that was pretty good its only USB 2 though but was only £80 at the time but they're cheaper now I think.

It works al-right on my wireless network at home streaming from my desktop to my laptop.

I think that's the one.
