Extra UK troops 'for Afghanistan'

Up to 2,000 extra British troops are likely to be sent to Afghanistan next year, the BBC has learned.

Ministers are considering sending reinforcements to Afghanistan to meet an expected request from Barack Obama, when he becomes US president next year.

In talks, Afghan leaders told Gordon Brown more troops were needed as it emerged two Royal Marines were killed on Tuesday in the south of the country.

"Ministers" really need to start listening to the military higher echelons who have all stated that there is no quick fix to be had in Afghanistan.

Lets see some ministers sons volunteering.

Apparently, the reason we are in Afghanistan is because it disrupts the activities of Al Quaeda and concentrates their efforts there instead of carrying out terrorist atrocities closer to home.
I happen to believe that to be quite accurate.
BUT I suspect that our snivelling ministers find it easier to send troops far away to deal with the problem in a seemingly endless struggle than to deal with the problem in our own country. Out of sight out of mind.
Rather than deporting immediately or imprisoning people who want or advocate terrorist activities within our country whether they were born here or not and regardless of their ethnicity.
It's easier and cheaper to bury British soldiers.
