F.A. to have Wayne Rooney Testimonial Match

Even if that was true (which it isn't) then what a gesture by these money grabbers that the money is to go to charity. Them money grabbers won't like that will they!

Oh shock horror Tom rides into town to defend a ex Rag. By using Rooney as a sub removes the chance for another player to come on and get game time before a supposedly important match a few days later, why not Jadon Sancho ?
The simple fact is Rooney needs to be in the media spotlight to make money, their is no justifiable reason why he is playing. The FA cannot shift tickets as it is the USA so they bring him back after 2 years to generate publicity and ticket sales. They have got slagged rotten so they decide to somehow make it look respectable. The Daily Telegraph states 'the fixture is to be called The Wayne Rooney Foundation International'. It does not state that money from the game, tickets sales etc. will be going to the foundation it seems to be simply publicising it. That is a huge difference The Guardian cannot/do not state how much money is going to the foundation.
And most telling the FA's own website states ......Fundraising initiatives around the game will allow fans to support the Foundation’s work, including donations via BT MyDonate and a Gala Dinner at Wembley Stadium in 2019.

So NO ticket money, no takings from shirt sales or beer or anything else related to the profits the FA will make from this match will end up with ANY charity. But Tom why let that stop you from being an anti BLUE WUM. There is no logical reason (other than publicity and greed) why Rooney is playing end of.

Not defending Rooney, the guy is a bell end of the highest order.

People contradict themselves with their opinions though, they say it makes a mockery of getting a cap yet they want that cap handed to some average player who has had a handful of decent games in the Prem (not Sancho just in general) dishing the caps out like sweets. I am adamant if this wasn't Rooney no one would be arsed in the slightest. So you are saying they haven't stated how much is going to the foundation then you are declaring yourself that nothing is going to it, which is it? They either haven't stated it or nothing?

This is nothing to do with a City fan isn't it? For everyone slagging it then 100% it is being a blue and why your opinions are blinkered because it is an ex United player. If it was anyone else you wouldn't be arsed just like I'm not arsed. it is a friendly ffs. If you look at it differently it is an attempt for a send off for England's record ever goal scorer who never got the usual circus many other players did when they stopped playing, in a meaningless friendly against the nation he now plays. If it was Lampard or a different likeable character with no City link too you would be nowhere near as passionately against it as you are. No fucker is even arsed about Rooney, I don't know how you think it will get shit loads of publicity for it.

No
No
No
No
And fkin no
Total and utter joke this and even for the completely f'cked up FA this has reached new depths!!
He's not even close to being a legend, behind so many others I could name, not least of which Bobby Charlton, who was never 'invited' back for a farewell for fooks sake! If it wasn't so f'ked up it would be laughable!

So because Rooney’s an ex-rag, City fans aren’t allowed an opinion on his selection, or anything else about him?
Except for you of course because ‘you’re not blinkered or biased’?

Can't really argue. Hes been the best English player over the last 10 years and deserves a good farewell

Wonder if Joe Hart will be invited back in a couple of years. Total joke and yet again the FA show themselves up for what they are. Fans should boycott the game and shove two fingers up to the powers that be and maybe it might force people into a rethink of the game and how supporters are treated. Game desperately needs wage caps, agents being transparent, players to honour contracts, games stop being moved to stupid KO times - why the f*** were Spurs playing at 19.45 on Saturday. Anyone travelling back in a car to London probably wouldn't have been home before much before 1.00am. Maybe these SKY and BT execs who move the games want to try and get there without the use of a car and use public transport and not be able to afford a decent hotel etc. Football lost its soul decades ago...

This being the best example of my posts, what has Hart got to do with it. People are offended because it is Rooney and played for United. Would it be ok if it was done for Hart too then? Agree with the rest of the post even if it is irrelevant to the actual thread.

Everyone can have an opinion, funny how it is all very negative ones though isn't it purely based on who he played for. I don't even really have one on this, it's all a bit meh for me but it certainly doesn't offend me as it does many on here.
