F1 Season 2021

I feel that the pundits treat Verstappen and his dangerous driving in the same manner as the football pundits did with Scholes’s tackling and make excuses for it all of the time.

Ignoring the incident which Max is being investigated for, there were two other moments when Verstappen left the track and reentered in a dangerous manner forcing Hamilton to react, which gained him an advantage.

I understand that his fearlessness is what makes him such an exciting driver. However, there is a line between being fearless and reckless and Max consistently crosses that line.

The key to the steward's enquiry is something Toto said - Max was slowing down and speeding up and slowing down again.

Lewis said the same, he was slowing, then jammed the brakes on and moved across.

RB can't spin that telemetry. If you're letting someone through, you slow down once, until they're past, you don't slow, speed up, slow.
My guess is he was trying to end up behind at the DRS detection point

Years ago it was more fun as cars failed. The leader could be 30 seconds ahead and he would have a gearbox failure or something. When does a car ever fail now?

What has happened this season to make Mercedes more competitive as they were rubbish until about 5 races ago.
True. That was a fun aspect of F1 but these days it's so expensive to build these machines hence reliability is prized. Plus, data and telemetry advances means teams have much more awareness of most issues so tell the driver to mitigate it or retire the car to not cause more damage. The engine blowouts are spectacular though and can decide titles, as seen in 2016.

I’d actually say dangerous, he uses the fear of others to his advantage. Take his late breaking, for instance. He does it in a manner that runs himself right out to the edge, forcing others to go off track or, if he goes off, he then comes back on with no care for the other driver.

He‘s done this all his racing career so all the other drivers are aware and try and stay out of his way. Now that he’s in a really competitive car the situation only gets worse as he now uses every trick to force other drivers to back down. However, as LH confirmed, he won’t be obliging but will protect himself, and MV by virtue.

It was an era were every part was designed to last 1 race.

Sadly that is no more and reliability is now prized so as to keep costs down.

The sport has needed this battle for a long time, it’s the fiercest fight in over a quarter of a century and I’m loving every minute of it.

Exceptional drivers will always find more time from their car and seeing Lewis and Max both ringing everything from their cars is a joy to behold.

Mercedes have certainly found something extra in the last few races and seem to have the slight edge and you can see Max senses it, hence the do or die. He’s a throwback driver, reminds me of Montoya and even a bit like Mansell.

Lewis once tried to back Rosberg into chasing cars in order to win a title, not like what we saw today granted, but he knows how to try and win dirty. Those actions absolutely contributed to Nico retiring.

We’ve been very used to F1 becoming a dominant driver in a dominant car sailing toward the title. Yes some of the behaviour this season has been over the line, but I’m here for it and grateful we get to watch this one unfold.

I’m very much on the same page and believe it should be let the racers race but, and it’s a big but, it has to be done in the spirit of the sport. Whether it was MV or LH behaving like that, it doesn’t matter, it is just wrong.

What this season is creating is that rubber neck mentality where the broadcasters are relying on incidents to sell the product, rather than the actual racing.

goading the dog and then getting all indignant when somebody finally gets their throat crushed.

Assume stewards decided not to take action or will it be one of those delayed announcements after a few days of talking to sponsors and asking Christian what he can accept
