Hopefully the Bournemouth v Swansea match has an English commentary option as my Welsh is shocking. I know S4C have it.

Just been looking around and there doesn’t seem to be an English option.

Crazy. Wonder if it doesn’t count as a BBC pick.

Guess we’ll find out who the Welsh Andy Hinchcliffe is.

Sounds perfect. You get the crowd noise. Names of the players if you don’t recognise them all. And get to imagine that John Hartson or whoever is saying something really interesting. Rather than whatever the Welsh is for… He’s got to be hitting the target from there, by the way.

I believe S4C gets to show matches on the understanding that only Welsh is used on the commentary.

It’s to do with protecting the language.

I grew up in a part of South Wales that was near majority English speaking so I’m still slightly taken aback when I hear groups of lads speaking in Welsh when I’m watching Wales somewhere.

After going to high school in England, there was no onus to learn the language and I’ve not needed it since.
