Ha ha, "later trains put on"

It's 2023 not 1983.

No one gives a shit if fans can't get home on a train, sadly
Dont think they can put on later trains ,certainly not much later as the track has to be given over for engineering works for HS 2 that is already way behind schedule

Have you not ? Road users be they coach or car or minibus are in the vast majority and they’re not selfishly clogging up threads with their woe is me first world problems like you are.

Anybody fortunate enough to be catching a train to London is comparatively affluent.

Have you stoped for a minute to consider anyone’s circumstances other than your own ? You have such a selfish attitude to this issue.
By the same token is anyone who can afford a car and pay the petrol not affluent? round trip is roughly 400 miles and even at 40 mpg the cost of petrol, oil, water, wear and tear is more than a train ticket unless it's an EV. I don't know many people who want to spend four hours plus at 8/9pm getting home. Accept it that many people would prefer an earlier ko such as 3.30 than a 5.30. Maybe you should think of many others with young families who want to get home or older people who don't want to be stuck in London at 9.00 on the M1 behind a Megabus in roadworks. I presume with the schools off soon for half term your moronic ramblings will increase in frequency.

Me me me me me me. Why should Kevin make a song and dance about a tiny minority of more affluent fans who can afford to travel by train,

How’s about the 90% of fans who don’t travel by train ?

Once again …….. M1 open all night, Megabus £20
Do you work in the marketing department for megabus?
Give it a rest

It takes a good four hours to get home on the train after the final whistle. By the time we’ve got out of the ground, queued up for the train back into London, ensured there is enough of a gap in time not to miss the train north and then spend say 2 and half hours on the train. I’ve travelled by train and coach home several times and there hasn’t been a big difference in the time I’ve got home.

The semi final with the rags is a noticeable exception to that.

It's not just about train travellers, though.

If I wanted to travel on the much-fabled Megabus, I wouldn't really want to be landing at Chorlton Street at 3am on a Sunday morning and be faced with a £50-60 taxi journey home or wait until 6am for the first train home.

If I wanted to travel by car, if I had kids to take, would I be wanting to get home at a similar time?

I cannot think of anybody's 'circumstances' that would make a 5.30pm kick off preferable to a 3.30pm one apart from wanting to quaff more pre-match ale.

Speaking as somebody who likes to quaff pre-match ale and is staying in a hotel on Friday and Saturday night, 5.30pm suits me just fine, but I'm not thinking out of selfish reasons, I'm thinking about what is best for the majority of our fans.

Point taken although I allow an hour back to Euston although done it in 40 previously but that included running most of the way to the station after the game and it's two hours to Stockport. I have heard of people not getting back until after 1.00am whilst I have been home circa 10.30 but I am sure it's swings and roundabouts. Did you know though that you could get a Megabus for £20 and apparently the M1 is open all night.

Last time I looked on this thread the landlord of the Torch was arranging the date and kick off time.
