I think I read the other day that from now on every game has to be at the main stadium, which is unfortunate because I'd rather a full academy stadium than an near empty Etihad (unless of course the club push this game and can draw more than 7k fans - should be able to with a bit of effort).

Don't know about this season, but it has been the norm for the semis and the final to be played at the clubs proper stadium.
Come on City....... lets emulate the Class of 86 and 08 :)

From Spuds OS: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/fayc-sf-1-date-230215/

The first leg of our FA Youth Cup semi-final against Chelsea will be played at White Hart Lane on Thursday, March 5.

This is live on ITV4 BTW.

Chelsea has confirmed that the 2nd leg is at Stamford Bridge.

For the 2nd leg of the final (Chelsea vs Fulham) at Stamford Bridge last year there was a 13,000 turn out. although the 1st leg was only 4,500.
Only 1 leg of the semi's exceeded the Mini-Etihad capacity and that was the 2nd leg of Arsenal vs Chelsea (9,700) so if we get to the semi then there's probably good justification for using it for the home leg.

Leicester City beat Birmingham City so :-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The updated Sixth Round Proper draw:

1 Leicester City v Birmingham City

2 Newcastle United v Chelsea

3 Manchester City v Crewe Alexandra

4 Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The updated Semi-Final draw:

First leg

1 Manchester City or Crewe Alexandra v Leicester City

2 Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea

If we beat Crewe then http://www.thefa.com/fa-youth-cup/fixtures has the semi's as Sat 7th & Sat 21st of March but I'm guessing that's the week beginning (?). They've also got us or Crewe as being at home in both legs :)

Disagree with that - if the final is played at the big stadium then the players need to have had the experience of playing there before the final. And it is up to the club to ensure there is a big crowd there - do they charge a fiver or tenner and get a few thousand or charge 2 quid (adults) a quid for kids and get many thousands (all buying more food / drink / souvenir shop etc)

Good on ITV4 on showing a semi too - hope other semi's will be on too (and obviously hope one of them involves City!)

You've got to get to the final first though (actually we've got to get to the semi first ;) ), and up to 7,000 at the Mini-Etihad would get behind the lads more than a similar number at the Etihad. I can't see Leicester bringing huge numbers.
How much they charge, regardless of location, we'll just have to wait and see.

(yes I am bored!)
Just been checking the FA rules and on venues it didn't state anywhere about where the semi (or even the final) had to be played!

However, found this rule that City are not sticking with.....

20. ADMISSION TO MATCHES - SALE OF TICKETS
(a) All persons including Season Ticket Holders must be charged admission to the ground, enclosure and stands in all FA Youth Cup matches subject to the following conditions:

Read further down:

(iv) Complimentary tickets issued by the Home Club in excess of the above must be
accounted for at the price at which they would have otherwise been sold, unless it
has been mutually agreed to use these tickets for promotional purposes, with the
consent of the Council.

Either means the club are chucking in £3 for each free ticket from their own pockets, or they've reached an arrangement with the FA and Crewe to give out frees. Seeing as Crewe are getting freebies for ST holders as well I'd say the latter.
