Fabian Delph on whether he wants to stay at City: "Yes, of course. I’m working with the best management team and players in the world."

Delph: "A lot of the boys are close and of course I’d love to be a part of that. We’ll have to see what happens at the end of the season."

Delph: "We were the better team by far – by a country mile. But goals win games and we have not managed to score more than them."

Delph has got a very good attitude and is good player to have in the squad but he is injury prone, and is similar to Fernando that he is just too limited to become a regular player in the starting line up. If he wants regular football he has to move on.

This will be my last bump but just watched the game again and they complemented each other with Dinho so well (especially in the first half with a few lovely passes or one-twos). Delph provided the drive and energy and Dinho the through passes. Both won some huge tackles in midfield. It really was a cameo after not starting a game in PL for the whole season. Will be interesting whether we utilize him in the future, but it makes sense only to include one of Yaya/Dinho/Delph against the likes of Hull and so, so it's debatable.

I wasn't aware of the team line up before the game, just managed to catch it from the first whistle, I thought that fella in particular is having a good game for City, thwarting Chelsea's midfield, he was crafty and insightful, who is that? I was told that it was Delph. He was very impressive, I thought.

I have no issues with Delph if he wants to stay, always give 100% and is a decent player who I'd rather have doing the Fernando role over Fernando, only issue for Delph is that he could be 5th choice next season ( providing no injuries ) and may see very little game time at all

I don't think he is limited at all. If he weren't so injury prone, he'd be a fine squad player to have.

Silva and Aguero overcame their constant niggles and we should be shedding 3 thirty something fullbacks. So the list of injury prone players should drop.

Bit with Komps and Gundogan already on the books, keeping another sick note really is stretching the club.

I disagree (for now). Lets see him have a decent set of games first. I think he has a lot more to offer than the cameos we have seen

A lot can be said of having a player that can run all game, get a foot in and pass without too much difficulty. It's all Kante generally does for Chelsea. He gets up and down the pitch pressing the opposition and putting a foot in and giving the ball to creative players. At Villa he was expected to be a combination of creative and defensive midfielder and did a job. There's no doubt he's not as talented in terms of natural footballing ability as other midfielders out there, but either is James Milner and he's done a job wherever he plays. When our season has been a story of errors leading to goals, it's important to have a player like Delph in there who will bust a gut to get back. I don't see why he can't play a role alongside more creative individuals when the game requires. It's up to him to prove his fitness and ability now and the rest is up to Pep.

I'm sure Pep has seen from Leicester and Chelsea that our league is tricky to win without combative midfield players. Sometimes sacrificing a bit of creativity to ensure you don't leave space for the opposition is more important in England then it may be in La Liga or the Bundesliga when he could be so dominant. Then again, we're probably only keeping the ball 90% as well as he'll want us to and if we eradicate errors in possession we shouldn't gift the opposition so many chances.

Although there is still over a month to go in the season Delph's best is probably not good enough for next season.
