Fabinho

I think Fabinho would give the squad more flexibility and could help in a number of roles.( Fullback, DM or a box-to-box type).....Jorginho is just a DM but a very good one and if you compare both players for that role alone Jorginho seems to be a better fit. I think the main thing to remember is that its not just about who is a better player but more to do with which player fits the role Pep wants...likely the club feel Jorginho is the best fit!

I agree with all that. Jorginho is a passing machine but Fabinho reminds me of a peak Yaya in some respects and I’ve wanted him for ages as I wanted VVD too.

We can't buy everyone. I am sure if we buy Mahrez and Jorginho, Liverpool fans will be looking on with envy too.

I don't quite understand why people are flapping and are so worried about this...

Let's be honest, Liverpool were always going to spend money to improve, same goes for Utd, same goes for Chelsea. Seeing as we romped it last year by the highest margin in the history of the PL, it is only expected that our competition will do everything they can to claw the deficit.

If we get Mahrez and Jorginho, I think we have acquired 2 fantastic players who will slot straight into the system. We could literally field two teams of high quality.

Ederson, Walker, Mendy, Otamendi, Laporte, Fernandinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Sane, Sterling, Aguero

Gunn/Bravo, Danilo, Delph, Stones, Kompany, Jorginho, Gundogan, Foden, Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Jesus

Now you tell me... which other team in the country can boast these options? That is considering we sign Mahrez and Jorginho.

We will have absolutely amazing depth, we will have all kinds of players with all kinds of exceptional qualities. We don't need to concentrate on anyone else, but ourselves. We are the team to beat, we are the top dogs, nobody else.

I keep hearing from City fans how we needed Fabinho because we need more physicality in our midfield... all I will say to that is, have folk been around to witness Pep decimating the Premier league this season not having to rely or even prioritise physical power and instead emphasising our play more on football intelligence and technical ability?

The best midfield trio I've seen in my lifetime is Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta and that was about as slight and as skinny midfield trio you will find in world football. If I had a choice of Busquets skinny frame or Fabinho's wirey powerful frame, give me Busquets skinny frame and football nous all day every day, every week, every month and every year.

Pep is a football genius, don't forget that Blues. Whoever he decides to bring in, I am fully behind him 100%.

I’m not scared of Liverpool I just wanted VVD Fabinho and Fekir for us. It’s just coincidence that it looks like they will end up with all of them rather than them going to different clubs.

Well there are clearly plenty of experts on this forum who obviously disagree that Pep actually knows which players we need, so this season was clearly a fluke.

Good signing for them, especially along with Keita.

Now, the question presents itself: is there any room for their captain? ;-)

Don't be upset regarding Fabinho blues. He's not got half the mind of Jorginho to dictate the game for us as a DLP/DM in a Pep team. I don't think we'd have targeted him at all. Heck, we had Fred as the back up.

Too many people seem to think the likes of Jorginho and Mahrez are there to rival Sterling and Dinho. I don’t think that’s the case.
Pep’s intention is to deepen the already amazing squad we have in order for us to be able to compete on all 4 fronts. That’s what the owner wants. We need more high quality bodies to do that.

I think Jorginho will flat out replace Dinho. Dinho will be the back up now.

Prime Yaya was benched by another 'passing machine' in Busquets for a reason, I watched every Barca game that season so remember it clearly. Busi was simply a much better pivot for a Guardiola team.
