...from last year that i cut out and just found again. it was in response to an article by colin shindler who said that since the take over, the heart has been ripped out of the club and he can no longer bring himself to love it. a guy called colin savage responded a week later, this was the last bit of the article that i just thought was awesome and thought i'd share...

"things have changed in the world in general, football in particular, likewise the city you once knew has changed too.
to you, she was a dotty, eccentric, slightly down at heel girl, who could be amusing and irritating in turn. someone the local lads laughed at while wolf whistling at the local vamp in red.
BUT, for all her imperfections, you and her other friends stuck with her, even though she embarrassed you from time to time.

Well, now she's won the lottery, had a face lift, a boob job, some liposuction and shops at harvey nicks!
she's gone from being a mousy brunette to a striking blonde, she looks like a million dollars but hasnt lost her sense of fun. she's some one you want to be seen with, even though your really not sure if she is going to do something she really shouldnt.

and everyones taking notice now, so perhaps you feel a little jealous of all the attention she's getting, which is natural, but she has made it clear that she isnt going back to what she was just to keep you happy.
there are new people chasing her affections, BUT, as long as her original friends are there in her inner circle, she'll never be allowed to forget who she once , we'll still be her real soul.
so, swallow your pride, get on the bus, its going to be an exciting ride!!"

It's amazing how everyone keeps saying that the heart is being ripped out of the club. These people are ill informed and prejudiced in their views. The owners seem to be making all the right noises in regards of the fans ans infact I recall it was something they touched on when they first took over. Initially it will look like we are just buying our way but that is how it has always been and will be for anyone else trying to break into the top 4. these people choose to ignore anything positive that comes from the club and dwell on scurrelous little lies.

i'd love to have recreated the whole article cos it was truly awesome but its a long one!!
it does mention that one of the first people abu dabi spoke to when when negotiating for the club was club historian gary james as they wanted to know the true meaning and history of the club

thats mint. just like the man who won the lottery and was building a fantsatic new house but got laughed at while it was being built. but he was safe in the knowlege that something unbeleivable was being built.

Awesome post. Colin Shindler is a knobend and a closet United fan in my opinion.

That's our very own "Prestwich Blue"
Thanks. Far too modest to mention that myself of course.

hats off to you mate. it was in the mail last august i think and i cut it out to frame. just bought the frame now and when i re read it it once again sent shivvers down my spine.

I remember that Shindler article. I thought at the time, as I still do, that he was a sell out. The media were crying out for an article like that about us and he was only too willing to oblige. There were moments under the Shiniwatra regime where I was genuinely worried about the identity of the club, who can forget the birthday wishes for the King of Thailand (bless him) on the Score board before games. However, the new owners have ensured that the club is currently more in touch with the fans than it has been for years. Only recently at the meet and greet with Toure and Tevez a lad got up and did the Tevez dance with the man himself, its hard to imagine that kind of interaction happening at any other club. Shindler was playing to the crowd with that bizarre diatribe. If Shindler had been speaking for the majority of City fans and spoken the truth his article wouldn't have made it past the cutting room floor of the daily mail's offices because it wouldn't have been what they wanted to hear and he knew it.
