I'm not in the least bit surprised.

Whilst working in government funded recruitment the amount of times they had to pad out "Local" vacancies with shite would surprise me. You couldn't have the LMS (labour Market System) empty of vacancies when having a go at jobseekers for not looking for jobs

I have argued this many times in here to the " there are loads of jobs out there" mob.

Add in the agencies that copy and paste jobs from company websites and the number of old ads that get forgotten....

Applying foe jobs the traditional way is no longer a way back to work.

I reckon 90% of jobs are organised through friends or friends-of-friends nowadays...

Sadly this even goes on in the public sector. I remember employees being put off applying and the usual excuse would be "oh yeah they have Joe Bloggs lined up for that role".

its not a bad thing if you've got a lot of friends I suppose...

I'm an IT contractor and I'm convinced over half the jobs advertised on the usual sites (monster etc) are just fishing exercises for cvs by recruitment agencies so they can impress clients with the number of potential candidates on their books.
