So I keep hearing and reading about how Britain's most venomous spider is terrorising the nation.

Before the past couple of months i had never heard of the false widow spider. Where have they come from?? Have the been in the UK for years???

I hate spiders and would probably crap my pants if i came face to face with one of those buggers.

Does this look like the appropriate section to ask about spiders?
haha

They're about on a par with a wasp but without the ability to fly and nowhere near as grumpy. They're also more susceptible to being twatted with a shoe.

On par with wasps? I've been stung by a wasp and id say yeah it hurt but all i got was a little red bump that hurt when it was touched, but it looks nothing like some of the injury's that have been in the news that have been inflicted by these false widow spiders. Unless of course the victims are allergic to the venom, then i can see why there injury's are so bad.

The people who have suffered bad reactions to a bite would have reacted the same to a bee or a wasp sting.
It's just the media trying to sensationalise things as per.

From what I understand most of these cases in the press (and predominantly the red-tops) have been exacerbated by allergic reactions. 12 people die each year from wasp or bee stings. There has never been a single death from a false widow, and they've been here over 150 years.

They've been here for 150 years and tabloids have nothing else to write about. Please relax.

150 year old spiders scare the shit out of me, they have experience

Having once been devoured by a 45 year old black widow, I understand.
