It was my UB40 back in the 80s.

Can't find a picture of my favourite, this is my second favourite and is 50 + years younger than the ones I worked on.

Of course we converted them to stationary flats as opposed to the revolving flats you see in this image, bloody philistines, get with the times granddads.

unfortunately this is a true story, there is nothing like taking your young children to the science and industry museum and explaining you can run every machine in the "How Things used to be" exhibit.

As an extra bit of dullness Platts had their own foundry and would make their own nuts and bolts so Platts fitters could service the machine because of the tooling. Acceptable I suppose in the 1880s, it did however cause shit in 1988 when I had to carry the fitters toolbox over 3 floors
