FC Basel V Manchester City - Post-Match Thread

Bernardo is getting better week by week, this team is special to watch. The only negative for me was the silly booking for Dinho. He is vital to the side and can't afford him missing a match through suspension.
Good shout. Lets hope he doesn't feature in the return. We dont need him.

Great performance aside from some hospital balls to midfielders from Kompany. But well in control.

That Dié for them should have been sent off for numerous yellow cars challenges all over the pitch.

They were shite though, worst team we’ve played since the last shit CL team we played. They were just all running around like headless chickens out of position and leaving huge holes everywhere. If we’d been more clinical we’d have scored seven easily.

Just shows what the TV money has done for the Premier League where even teams down the bottom of the Prem look better than CL Ro16 opponents.

Great result and I think the best performances in a City shirt for Gundo and Bernado. We gave them 3 or 4 good chances though and a better team would have punished us. Just hope Vinnie and Delph have run the rustiness out of their legs. At this stage of the season, the ideal would be knowing our best CB pairing and sticking with it as far as possible. I know thats not been possible because of circumstances but I hope, now all 4 are fit, we are not going to see a different pairing every game.

Hopefully.

I don’t agree. I was chuffed when we signed Bernie but with a fit Leroy, having him and Sterling playing on their strongest sides gives us the balance we need to get on top of the bus parkers easier.

Bernie can’t go around players on the right and Sterling can’t on the left, which is why I think we’ve seen a drop in form for Sterling in past weeks.

And finally, I don’t think Bernie has it in him to score a 93rd minute game changing goal (yet) but we know Sterling does.
