FC United To Play Benfica 'B' (P11)

Re: FC United pass the begging bowl round again

A bit of good news Friends of Broadhurst Community Group objected to FCUM's ''licence variation'', along with 150 letters of objection. FCUM licence variation was to allow drinking on the terraces during matches. Graham Stringer objected along with Cllr Henry Cooper and Paul Murphy. FCUM have now withdrawn the application.

Bet our Asian friends in the old laundrette are ecstatic..
Great news mate, the sooner this Club goes bump the better, then the rightful owners? The people of Moston will have a good community ground built with Manchester City Council Money, money made through making cutbacks, then we can watch the Moston Juniors play games there.
The Link is probably related.. Overspending on FSCUM..

I was at a residents meeting and a high ranking official of Moston Juniors stood up and said that the kids club had been ''threatened'' by the council that if they didn't back the plans for the development, then when their lease on the pitches came up for renewal, it would not be looked upon favourably.....

You're not wrong, we left Moston over that; it was clear they were gonna get shafted. What ever happened to that pitch being built on the middle of Boggart Hole Clough running track, nothing. I also seem to remember that they had found out Ronald Johnson Playing Fields had a grant of some kind, then the fields magically ended up with FC after they couldn't build it on Ten Acres.

Moston Juniors received a grant of 750K to build a club house. It was felt they needed more as once built it would need to be maintained etc.
Once Ten Acres Lane was scuppered (amidst rumours City had told the council it was too near to Eastlands....) the council decided to bring the funding for MJFC into the equation for FCUM's stadium.
My understanding is 200K of the 750K went on the pre planning stuff (testing of the land's suitability, soil samples, feasibility studies, underground checks as there's a big mine underneath! etc etc)
So had the stadium bid failed, MJFC would have been down 200K.
Not that there was ever a doubt that the bid would fail......
A Manchester city council led bid having to be approved by Manchester city council planning department...... looking back I even wonder why we locals bothered campaigning against it..... it was an obvious foregone conclusion from day one.

the people don't have any power over the council and the fat cats will just eat anybody campaigning
when there is big money to be made from back handers in a paper bag

I have a soft spot for moston and them playing fields score more goals on that first pitch than anybody else from the late 70s to the mid 80s we would play until you could not see the ball

anything headers and volleys 2 touch 60 seconds 1 and you're thru right to 11 a side full games
sad that its gone and them scum have taken over

Re: FC United pass the begging bowl round again

How many times are they going to beg.. it is embarrassing.

Self-sufficiency is the answer.

Re: FC United pass the begging bowl round again

They get massive crowds for the league they're in but seem to have reached a level and are stuck there.

Is soneone dipping in the til? I assume with the turnover they have money on players would get them at least to Conference level.

Not that I'm complaining.

Re: FC United pass the begging bowl round again

I thought we'd agreed that, considering what football is known as in the land of their parent club's owners, that they should henceforth be known as:

Soccer
Club
United of
Manchester
