Fencing dispute

He has said we can't touch them as it's his fence on his land. He also snaps of with his hands any branches of our trees that grow on his side of the fence, that's the type of bloke he is. Nobody on our street has a good word to say about him and his family.
Pretty sure he's wrong mate but it would depend on your local bylaws. You need to find out at what point the new fence is grandfathered in and is now considered the property line. It might have been on his land 15 years ago but not necessarily now.

Went to see them today after they came round again.
They have had an offer on their house and got a 2nd viewing next week and scared of buyer pulling out. He said if they lose the sale he will sue me.
I offered a comprise and said I will take it down for now an just leave the wooden posts up so no can reattach after next week's viewing. They still weren't happy with that.
I have attached the fencing to the existing fence posts that they say belong to them and demanded I remove it all together - I didn't go into the fact that both neighbours own the boundary fence and posts regardless of who paid for them. Presume they did before I bought it.

I'm just going to carry on with it and ignore them. I tried to compromise and they wouldn't have it and just wanted to be able to give me orders.

He also wrongly told me that the maximum allowable height is 6ft i told him that the government rules are 2m or 6.6. He didn't care what the government said because he was right.

Other 2 neighbours I border with said they don't care and told me to do whatever I want.
I agree that once he threatened you, the urge would be to just go ahead, and not cave in to the threat.

But he sounds like the sort of neighbour you don't want to live next to, so it might be better to not antagonise him, and do what is necessary to facilitate the sale going through.

However, don't give him a free ride on this. Arrange with the estate agents to view his house, requesting the agent to escort you round. Make sure you visit with muddy shoes. Take your whole family. Let the kids run riot. Borrow some kids if you need to. Get them to use the toilets but don't flush. Check all the wardrobes and drawers. Basically cause havoc.

If you've not got the nerve to do this, pm me.

Can you pop me on ignore too please mate. All those things, apply to me too, and if anything I'm worse tbh :-(

Consider it done pal.
A bit surprised that you’d put your hand up for attacking posters for writing stuff they didn’t ever write (like your weird mate) but I come on here to engage in pleasantries, not arguments, so I’m happy to oblige :-)

Only a brief exchange but I kinda warmed to you due to your humorous edge (as opposed to your mates arrogant lecturing about stuff he’d not read) so have y’self a happy life and goodbye :-)

Well excuse me! To be accused of lecturing about stuff I haven’t read is too much for me.

I haven’t suffered such abuse on an Internet forum since I was banned from RedCafe on the night I mistook a Champions League Draw simulator for the actual thing and managed to convince a fair number of them that I’d booked flights to Madrid, 72 hours before the draw was actually made.

I will not tolerate being called weird, arrogant or even being replied to in bold letters by someone who clearly doesn’t know the first thing about boundaries.

It’s a good thing that he’s put me on “ignore”. Me calling him a boobus poltroon may cause him to take offence - and not the 8 foot high one in the opening post!
