IN SHEIKH WE TRUST!
"[With] Eleven men [we had] no problem, but the young boy [Rafael] showed a bit of inexperience but they [Bayern] got him sent off, everyone sprinting towards the referee, typical Germans," Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson thinks typical Germans got Rafael da Silva sent off. The culprits in this 'typical German' conspiracy: Franck Ribery (France), Ivica Olic (Croatia), Mark van Bommel (Netherlands), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), one outta four ain't bad. Typical Fergie.

It would be nice if we could get a banner for the Derby, with pictures of Bert and Uwe just saying "TYPICAL GERMANS"!!!

So funny that the silly old get keeps supplying us with the ammunition to mock him more and more!

And Michael Frontzeck! (*ducks)

...I was also thinkling of procuring a flag for the derby - I have an old duvet cover (super king sized) but just need some red, yellow and black paint to make it in to a german flag. I was then going to photocopy a picture of somone murdering 6 million jews, eating a sausage, placing a cunning early towel on a lounger and generally cluttering up Albert Square in the run up to christmas. As a finishing touch I thought of writing "typical german" in cross stitch or perhaps embroidery in the far right corner....

....all I need are a few donations so if you could just pm me the details of your debit card, mother's maiden name and pin number I will make sure your funds are put to good use...

Great idea, imagine a pic of Uwe just after he'd scored that chip over Schmeichel at the swamp with ''typical german's'' hey Fergie.

What about Tarnat?

Wasn't sure if there were any pics of him scoring/celebrating his goal at the swamp but that Rosler one sprung to mind. If there's a pic of that get him on there too!

this was the moment that i think was the loudest i ever screamed!!!!!! i was like a loon for about 2mins.....
it was short lived :( b@$1*&%`s !!!!!

Glad you like the idea.

Works on the level of ramming baconface's silly comments down his throat (along the lines of Fergie sign him up) and also highlights that we are not xenophobes and appreciate the effort of two of our terrific Teutonic titans, Trautmann and T'Uwe (sorry - needed to get another T in).

Although Tarnat, Immel, Karl, Gaudino, and even Frontzeck (that was still never a penalty at the swamp) all appeared for us, I think Uwe and Bert were on a different level.

No idea how to put a picture on here, but one with Bert holding his neck - TYPICAL GERMANS in the middle in bold - and Uwe reeling away after scoring on the other side. This would look very good!

Didi hamman anyone ??

Yeah, we could have a picture of trautmann holding the F.A cup, a picture of Uwe scoring against Schmeichel & a picture of Didi standing in front of an opponent then falling over to win a free kick. Don't think he merits inclusion although he was decent for a season.

Fergie brands Bayern Munich 'bullies' then launches rant at 'disgusting' press

Published 22:45 09/04/10 By David McDonnell

Sir Alex Ferguson was yesterday given the chance to apologise for his “typical Germans” remark in the wake of Manchester United’s Champions League exit to Bayern Munich.

But instead Fergie went on the attack, reigniting his feud with Bayern by claiming their players “let themselves down” by pressuring the referee into sending off Rafael Da Silva.

And Fergie then tried to blame the media for reporting his controversial remarks, rather than focusing on a “fantastic performance” by his players who – in case he needs reminding – blew a 3-0 lead on the night at Old Trafford to go out.

Q: Do you regret using the phrase ‘Typical Germans?’

A: That was right at the end of the match and you lot have definitely used it. You forget that the most important thing about Wednesday was how well we played. We were unlucky, but you’ve lost that in the midst of the venom that you can put in your headlines.

Q: Do you regret using the phrase?

A: It was at the end of the game. It happens, you know? I think the Germans let themselves down with the way they behaved in getting the boy sent off. If they don’t recognise that, there is nothing I can do about that. I think it was unfair. Totally unfair. They got the boy sent off. They bullied the referee. They bullied the referee into it. It is a young referee and he succumbed to that pressure because he wasn’t going to send the boy off.

Q: Bayern suggest you weren’t very gracious.

A: I’m disappointed, yes. I’m disappointed with that kind of behaviour. Louis van Gaal (the Bayern coach) spoke about how fair English football is and I think he’s right. It’s one of the fairest in the world, but we weren’t talking about English fairness.

Q: Do you think Rafael was culpable having already been booked?

A: He has barely touched him. In fact Ribery has done more to him that Rafael did to Ribery. The issue was how the Germans reacted. They knew the boy was on a yellow card, they surrounded the referee and that happens, you see it time and time again with footballers, waving the imaginary card to the referee and he succumbed unfortunately. You see it a lot in European football. It isn’t down to just one country.

Q: Haven’t you experienced this before in Europe?

A: I don’t know if it was last season or the season before, but the edict was that if anyone showed an imaginary card, they should be booked. Well, there were six that should have been booked if you go along those lines. That’s where the fairness has to come into it, but unfortunately it didn’t apply itself.

Q: Will Rafael learn from his experience?

A: He is young, but on Wednesday night he was probably our best player. He was fantastic, the boy. He dominated Ribery and it’s just disappointing for the boy.

Q: Should the quality of performance galvanise the players?

A: Well we have to remind them of that because it still hasn’t come across in the Press. It is hard to understand the Press. You know, someone told me that the press came back from the Rome final and they were all delighted on the Press bus that we had lost. They were absolutely pleased that we had lost. The English Press.

Q: You don’t know that for a fact.

A: Well, somebody on the bus told me that.

Q: Alex, there are United supporters in this room.

A: Well, it is disappointing that a British team is in the final and even one member of the Press....

Q: But you don’t know that for sure.

A: No, listen. The issue is, a member of the bus told me that and he said he was absolutely disgusted by the British Press in that final and that’s a fact. He has no reason to lie to me. You were on the bus, you will know that.

Q: We sell on success, Alex. It’s better for us if United win – then you’re happy, the players are happy, everyone will talk to us...

A: What has been lost from the game on Wednesday is our performance. Our performance was fantastic. At 3-0, it could have been 5-0.

We were magnificent and that gets lost just because you wrote a headline about what I say about the Germans and that is disgusting.

Q: We have given the team praise.

A: It’s disgusting. The players deserve some praise from you lot. That performance was outstanding.

Q: You’ll probably find that they got some (praise), but if you use a phrase like ‘typical Germans,’ you know what will happen.

A: It was at the end of the game when you have to do the interview because of UEFA rules. With the television, you have to do the interview and it’s a bad time to do it. But you don’t have the time. Anyway, there we are. Thank you.
