At 34 i think a move back to centre back will suit his game , he reads the game so well and sniffs out danger and with Rodri protecting the back four we wont give much away this season and although the Laporte injury is a blow , i dont think it will have the effect all the Dippers are jumping for joy about

Also, I'd trust him the most to at least try and replicate Laporte's big crossfield passes to the flanks, or even those through balls, so it would be a nice bonus if he can provide some quality defending too. :)

I would not be surprised if Pep has had it in mind to move Fern back into defence for some time. He's used him there before anyway.

He is one of the best distributers of the ball in our team. The last two seasons, especially when playing through the lines receiving the ball from Ederson.

Isn't he just. I can honestly see him being exceptional at CB; especially for the way we play.
Pep’s done this before, so I’ve no doubts he can do it again. And, I think Dinho is better than Mascherano.

I’d like to see Harwood-Bellis and Garcia get a game (not the same one, mind!), but think they might be limited to the League Cup for now, to give Stones and Ota a break. However, when teams play only 1 upfront, there’s no reason one of them can’t share the load and get some valuable experience. Conversely, go to s 3 at the back with Walker, Stones and Ota, with half backs. We have enough midfielders to play a 3-4-3 or even a 3-5-2 with flying half backs. No doubt Pep and his team are looking at everything....including a January move in the transfer market if Eric has done his ACL and out for the season.

This guy is incredible. He's talented, athletic , versatile and above all of high character.
His headed clearance today was the highlight of the day for me.

It was a fantastic header.

And he made a great interception too.

I love Fernandinho and I’m confident that he will slot in at centre-back seamlessly. He’s already done so on the odd occasion, but it wasn’t a regular thing, as we had no specialist to play at pivot. But now that Dave is here, Dinho will be free to cover John and Nico (and Eric when he’s back).

He won’t let us down.
