Sheikh Mansour and the board felt that there was no evidence that the situation would fundamentally change.

No mention of the previous permanent CEO in that statement and Soriano's powers will probably not be any higher than what Cook had.

Not be any higher? hehe Cook had plenty of power, Being CEO for a global muliti million pound company gives you power inside the doors.

We dont hear about the daily operation of the "company part" of city only the footballing part .

Marwood is not on a contract :) Marwood is employed as everyone els working behind the doors.

If I was a betting man (which I am not) I would say that Marwood will be replaced by Txiki Bergiristain who was director of football at Barcelona working alongside Ferran Soriano. I would say that this would be a dream team considering how highly rated both are within European football.
