Frenkie is more of a deep lying playmaker than an out and out defensive midfielder, he will struggle to fill the role of a Rodri or Ferna, that's just a fact. Physicality is a big factor why we settled with a profile like Rodri instead of Fred or a Jorginho even. Frenkie would be great in our side but it's not something we particularly need or lack right now, I'd prefer someone who could give proper competition to Rodri when Fernandinho goes.

I’m not sure about generational talent, he’s a similar age to Haaland, Mbappe, Vlahovic and our very own Phil Foden. He‘s a good young player but he’s not Lionel Messi.
I think the Spanish rate him as an absolute talent similar to Vlahovic and Phil

Hardly surprising the way he was smashing goals in left right and centre for the Spanish national side.
We got our asking price of 65 million Euros. 10 in easily achievable add ons. That's decent money considering we paid 20.
I don't think we buy anyone in January though.
Like has already been said for summer, new left back and a replacement for Ferna. Will we be in for Haaland? who knows.

The planets aligned really. He's been injured, and when fit, may not get much game time even then, so why not bank to profit, get him off the wage bill, and see what we can organise in January.Why have we allowed him to leave in January and not the summer?

Barcelona will always find the money to buy the players they want, think a few were kidding themselves with the 'they are skint' tags. Their debt is very real, but when has that ever stopped them from spending.
