If you arrive by train on the Rotterdam central station and you are feeling thirsty: there is a good (outside) drinking spot within five minutes walking distance, called Biergarten (whcih is pretty close to the german biergartens and best of all quite cheap compared to Oude Haven and witte de with). Landmarks to visit: Euromast (from up there beautiful view, and you can see de Kuip! (the nickname of Feyenoord stadium which translates as the bathtube) on some days you can even jump of the Euromast. Other landmarks are the Rotterdam Central station, and de Markthal (whoch you can't miss if you catch a pint at de Oude Haven, or if you decide to terminate the train at Rotterdam Blaak station). On the southbank of the Maas River if you take the Wilhaminahaven exit on the metro (D/E) you have the 'kop van Zuid' there is some artsy fartsy architecture there as well as the historic Hotel New York, opposite of that there is a cool foodhall whcih i can recommend. There are few old buildings in Rotterdam, thanks to our german friends in ww2, but city hall is quite beautiful and old. Also cool if you have the time is a boat tour called: spido, the starting and ending point next to the Erasmusbridge.

Yeah, I thought with the amount of flights to Amsterdam with multiple airlines that the prices might stay reasonable but they rocketed to well over £200 for most options on the night the draw was made. Of course, it should be noted that they probably didn't start so cheap in the first place as the date of the game is so close and those flights were already probably quite full before any City fans jumped on them. I saved about £60 flying home on the Friday morning instead of the Thursday evening but like a dick I'm paying more than that saving for a hotel room on the Thursday!
Haha yeah it sometimes feels like a false economy, but at least you get an extra day and night to enjoy yourself! I'm sure there will be plenty of Blues kicking about towards the end of the week, in no rush to get home.
Really fancied doing this, ideally with the ferry from Hull for something a bit different, but with so little notice and so little holiday time left at work its sadly a non-starter. Hoping we get through comfortably and land a nice feasible away tie in the last 16.

16:50 out of Liverpool to Amsterdam on the Tuesday. Stay in Amsterdam both nights and sadly (well sort of .... I need to be back for an early holiday flight on Friday) an early flight back to Gatwick on the Thursday morning. Not too bad at £98 all in including train back from Gatwick to Manchester.
