FFPR in a nutshell

I was reading some time ago that Abu Dhabi now owns all the parking meters in Chicago, or at least they have leased them for 75 years and get all the revenue from them..
Imagine Platini's face if we met the FFPR rules by playing in the "Chicago Parking Meter Stadium"...

My only concern is that the "grey" areas identified by fbloke leave intepretation of those areas open to UEFA and UEFA alone. Thus if they didn't like a club or its owners they could exclude them on grounds which another club might get away with.

The safety net on that is that UEFA would be very silly to take on the financial muscle of our owners.

As an aside, I have a suspicion that, with the FIFA shenanigans, a rethink of the whole of football governance may well be justified. The top clubs have, I think, been awaiting just such an opportunity and, if the existing bodies are replaced, we are well placed to be a powerful force in that.

I am personally not worried one iota about Platini and his illegal rules. It will just be another legal challenge from the Sheikhs highly paid lawyers. Why are we even worrying? Stadium naming rights will be sorted 1-200 million front loaded. Phase 2 will be announced and the income that the investment will bring around the stadium etc will be astronomical.
Boys just sit back and relax, enjoy the summer. Sheikh Mansour=Legend!!

The "going in the right direction" clause in annex 6 gives us plenty of scope.

I was worried. I'm not now. Onwards!

The only issue with fair value is if it involves a "related party". If BP want to pay us £200m they can under FFPR. Whether they would do that is another matter entirely.

I chose BP as an obvious link to the oil industry.

But as I said earlier there are all manner of companies that could easily be convinced hat sponsoring City would be worthwhile.

WRNH - the fact is simple fella City's owners and the wider family of people, companies and indeed countries are important to people with no interest in football at all.

What i am saying is that companies sponsor football clubs to promote their company. If you could sponsor Barca, Madrid or United who have 3x, 5x, 10x or even 20x as many fans as us and have a profile bigger than us worldwide, why would they sponsor Manchester City for £200m? They could sponsor all three of them for £120m without touching us and have 60x more exposure.

Getting 10m or even 20m more maybe but for an astronomical amount like that compared to bigger clubs (brands) would make a mockery of the FFP rules.
This has nothing to do with Barcelona's comparative size to city its business and £200 million (small change to BP anyway) means you are "getting into bed" so to speak with the main oil men, this is priceless to these companies

We have little to worry about these days.........our owner is the mutts nuts.
Think back 12 years, 2-0 down seemingly without a prayer.
How times change!!!

Bring on Phase2. This is where the real fun starts chaps

How can an organisation that sets a MINIMUM pricing structure to protect it's "brand" and charge £380 for a standard ticket to a 90 minute event demonstrate any credability in determining a "fair market rate" for anything??

Or another way of looking at it - A £20m pound take for one match - Thank you Mr Platini the going rate is set.

The crownprince of Abu Dhabi (Mansours brother and Khaldoons boss) having a word with the French President in regards to Platini and FFPR last week...officially something about oil and military stuff

What income is allowed?
The usual match-day, commercial & media income counts as well as profit on disposal of assets and players. In addition, we can count any non-football income from operations in or near to CoMS or that use the club branding as part of their operations. So income from any hotels or other leisure/commercial facilities in Eastlands owned by the club can count.

Good summary.

You missed a critical point regards income though. It clearly states that you can include income from non-footballing operations, as follows:

• Operations based at, or in close proximity to, a club’s stadium and
training facilities such as a hotel, restaurant, conference centre, business
premises (for rental), health-care centre, other sports teams; and
• Operations clearly using the name/brand of a club as part of their
operations.

To me, this latter point is an enormous loophole. All ADUG has to do is to rename Abu Dhabi Airport, "Manchester City Abu Dhabi Airport" and basically the whole thing would be sorted.

I find it surprising this coach-and-horses loophole has slipped through. I can only assume it's been deliberately added to accommodate one of Twatini's chosen clubs.
