FIFA propose mini-World Cup every 2 years

FIFA is in desperate need of money. They do not care about football, but will do anything to generate the cash they need for themselves.

Well I guess that'll mean a bribe twice as often. Wasn't it last week when they were proposing some bullshit international league? Another competition where they get to profit off players paid by someone else. Why would clubs release their players for yet more pointless games for the global money-laundering scheme that is FIFA?

Could be they're running out of loot!

World club Cup now. What next? Players are never going to get a rest at this rate.

Representatives of seven clubs including United, Barcelona and Madrid visited FIFA on Wednesday for a meeting about a multibillion-dollar world club cup, code-named “Project Trophy”. The tournament could start in 2021 with 24 teams taking part every fours years.

I like to see a FA cup style knock out .throw all 300 or whatever countries in a hat . You draw who you draw. Over two legs.

Last eight teams standing play a round robin final tournament. And that covers a four year cycle from start to finish. Winners are world champs.

I actually hate international friendly games and marvel at the numbers who waste money filling Wembley to see use bore draw with Bolivia in a eff all game ....or such like.

The SoftBank Group chief executive Masayoshi Son has set his sights on investing in two major new soccer tournaments in what would amount to a near takeover of much of FIFA’s business.

For months, a consortium led by SoftBank, the Japanese conglomerate owned by Son, and the leadership of soccer’s governing body have been in negotiations over a proposed $25 billion deal for two new tournaments. The talks are shrouded in nondisclosure agreements. But according to information reviewed by The New York Times this week, the terms of the proposal call for Son to play a major role in the new joint venture, FIFA Digital Corp., and for the consortium to take over some of FIFA’s most valuable operations.

According to the proposed terms, FIFA would be a 51 percent partner in the new joint venture. The consortium, which includes SoftBank’s British subsidiary SB Investment Advisers and Centricus Partners, a London-based asset management firm, as well as Arab and American investors, also is seeking to control the rights to FIFA’s gaming and merchandise businesses. That include the soccer body’s $150 million-a-year deal with EA Sports for the popular FIFA video game, which is among its most lucrative. Son and FIFA’s president, Gianni Infantino, would serve as the co-chairmen of a 10-member supervisory board of FIFA Digital, with each appointing half the board’s members.

Son’s biggest challenge, though, is that he is seeking to acquire a multibillion-dollar stake in a governing body that many executives at the top levels of soccer say should not be for sale.

If football wasnt mad already, these proposals would take it over the edge. FAs need to show some balls and say NO.
When, for example, are the players supposed to get a rest? The world cup is one thing, but FIFA should not be running tournaments at club level or at international level. Madness, I tell you, madness.
