I went to St Monica’s High School in Prestwich and we used to have a few tear ups with Parrenthorne school. Used to meet up at Heaton Park and have a scuffle. I was fucking shit at fighting. I’m really proud of somethings I’ve achieved but I look back at that and cringe. The older you get, the more you realise what a tool you were when you were younger.
I had mates that went to both Monica's and Parenthorne. Went to Holy Cross 6th form and so many of them one part of the common room was called 'the Monica's corner' of which I was part of even tho i never went to Monica's. Still my best mates to this day. Good times.

Tbh they weren't all school lads, there was a few older fairground lads with them, think a few of them used to park up in New Mills back then.
Don't know about these days but back then New Mills was a mental place, somewhere you didn't venture unless you wanted mither.

I still have friends and family there. It’s very quiet and peaceful these days.
A few scrotes on a couple of the council estates sure but generally speaking its full of old people and definitely very safe.
