Can't really take that award seriously if that's who's getting nominated. Messi number one Ronaldo will get number two, the only interesting thing will be who gets voted 3rd best player in the world. Neymar or the biter would get my vote on last seasons performances.
 
i quite like wilfried bony, but he has a grand total of four goals in 2015, if i'm not mistaken. i know these lists are nonsense, but that is pretty amazing
 
Dont have anything against Bony but seriously dont know what he is doing on that list especially with Silva missing. He didnt do shit at the afcon let alone the league.
 
It really is a fucking disgrace, I'm fuming! The worlds most prestigious individual football award and the best player in the best league in the world gets overlooked YET AGAIN!!! In my book David is in the top 5 players in the world, not putting him in a 59 man shortlist isn't only insulting but for me shows a distinct lack of thought towards the nominations. If it's based on stats, David walks straight in, if it's based on influence to the team, he walks straight in, if it's based on popular vote in the country the player plays in, he walks straight in, I really do feel for him, especially when he's better than all his teammates who have been nominated
 
Wonder how as a player you get to be nominated. Is it performances in various European competitions? Or being part of a team that won silverware? I don't know.

I understand De Bruynes nomination. German POTY and most assists. I understand Yaya and Bony, both part of Ivory Coast that won ANC. Playing for us or in the PL might have helped. Otamendi? Wasn't he named best defender in La Liga I think? Aguero ... no idea :)

As for Silva, I think the guy is just happy he doesn't need to go to this glitter-farced event from cheating Pratini and his UEFA.
 
Silva had a poor start to last season but hasn't looked back since the start of 2015, he's been awesome.

Joe Hart performed brilliantly in the Champions League last year and warrants a place on the shortlist. Pains me to say it, but going on last season's form John Terry should have a place.

The biggest 2 misses for me are Verratti and Matuidi from PSG! Both been awesome for well over 12 months - especially Verratti who in my opinion was the best centre mid in the World last season form wise. Fifa don't have a clue.
 
The fucks I don't give about this silly competition can be compared to the fucks I give about dressage in the HOTY competition.
 
Isn't it voted for by a journalist from each country? So obscure countries back their own players just to see them nominated, while great players from nations that have other great players tend to miss out (like Spanish Dave and Busquets).

Yep, pretty sure it's something like one journalist from each country, and every national teams captain and manager. Often they just vote for their mates, you'll see the captain of guinea or somewhere vote for gervinho as the worlds best player. Not a serious matter but pretty farcical nonetheless.
