Finally made it onto the NHS Waiting List for Hip Replacement

Having suffered with severe arthritis in my left hip for three years I am now officially on the waiting list for a replacement hip, although the Consultant has said it will be a further 6 - 8 months before ay operation will be conducted.
It took me 17 months to see a Consultant and I know I should be delighted, but I was hoping it may be a little sooner as its "bone on bone", but I guess I`m doing a lot better than some people who have been waiting longer to see someone.
Until next year I`ll still keep on taking the tablets and Guinness (for medicinal purposes only ;) ).

Been struggling with sciatica , went to Tameside last Thursday to A&E , waited for around 6 hours . Eventually went for MRI scan , Dr came back with results and said we’re blue lighting you to Salford Royal you’ll be having an operation tomorrow . Couldn’t go ahead with it as I take aspirin so a 7 day wait .
Should have had op on Thursday it was cancelled till Friday then cancelled again . Got told today it’s tomorrow I’m second in line, just got woken up to be told get your gear you’re moving wards.
Oh forgot to say it’s a herniated disc, bloody painful after 5 minutes of walking . Anyway fingers crossed for tomorrow . Good luck with your surgery mate.

Arthritic knee for me
Got to see the consultant last week who recommended the half knee operation
I asked how long the waiting list was and he replied 65 weeks from doctor's referral
He then asked when I was referred and I told him February (eight months ago)
So in theory, I've only eight months to wait

I was lucky enough to be able to pay £200 for a private consultation.
This then avoids the massive hold up in doctor to consultant referrals, which is where the real wait is.
After the consultation I was on the NHS list for a new hip with a 6 month wait.
In the end I had to ask them to hold off and wait until after Christmas.
Got it done in February.
