Financial dilemma. What do Bluemoon think?

City win and over 3.5 goals is 6/5.
Stick the ten grand on that and if it wins then clear both debts AND have a trip to patagonia.

Hoping they didn't take this advice LOL

I'm going to respond before reading any posts other than the op, and then go back and read them all to see if I'm a ****.
Pay off the stupid woman wife's 4k debt, give the remaining 6k to the lads parents, pay 200 quid per month until the rest is paid back as agreed.

Use £4k of her money to pay off her own debts. Leaving 6k

Give £4k back to his parents. leaving 2k A regular income may be as good for them as a lump sum - need to ask them what they want to do.

That leaves £12k in the kitty - six from each side.

Get the woman to stop being a dick with her money or it'll end up with them both in a right mess. I've seen this so many times, one half of a couple is fucking financially clueless and/or irresponsible and years down the line they find they owe as much, if not more, than what they did when they started off fifteen years earlier. All they have to show is wardrobes full of shoes and clothes that in reality are out of their price range and cupboards full of crap they've never used or are likely to.

He needs to get her sorted and watch what she's up to.

OK, what am I missing here?

This bit I'd say

A twist in the tale has come about as the lad's Mrs has been handed 10k by a relative (on her side) for xmas after he came into a lot of money (I don't know how or where the money came from)

Nope, I saw that bit. She's been given 10k and is already 14k in debt. How does she now have 12k?

Surely sit down with the missus and discuss it, if your parent are desperate for 10k to the point of not being able to pay their debts pay them the full amount.

If they need £6k to be more than comfortable pay that and set up a direct debit to cover wife's debt for the time being and if ur parents still struggle then u have reserves. I'm sure if they come into money again they'd be gifting you money they had to spare.

On a side not as ur missus is in debt make her realise what a debt costs from a bank/credit card versus the interest free loan (I'm assuming) from ur kindly folks

What the lad should really be asking is, if she's 4k in debt and can't manage money. Imagine the fucking mess were going to be in when she's 40k in debt.

Just the fact that they're not running round to the parents house with a cheque for 10k gives me an idea what's going to happen.

I'm willing to wager in 12 months the bird is in more debt and the parents don't have they're money back.

Pelly Greeny has confused my head in this thread.

They have effectively been lent 20k. They needed the 10k from the parents to get the house. But then got an extra 10k from a relative.

So...give the parents their 10k back.. = off the conscience. Then they have 10k for the house but are still in 4k debt cos of the missus' proclivities or whatever.

They're as they were. With parents being fully reimbursed.

Is that right? Fuck! I don't know.

Yeh that's right. So it's either jib the parents or not.

Ash the parents if they need 10k back immediately or will 8k do? or 6k? then some or all of the debt can be paid off.

Eureka!
