Finbar o`neill City `character`.

Paddy O,Neil, one of the hardest men you will ever meet.Down on his luck now, last saw him walking the streets, homeless.

I love the term 'character'...

We had quite a few likely 'characters' back in the 60's and 70's.

The sort of people you'd be more than happy to travel with to away games, but wouldn't necessarily want to go on holiday with in the close season.

Wherever you are Paddy, good luck to you lad.

Agree with this and as Lavinda Past has said there definately were a few characters back in them days, always seemed to be on Giners coach from Aytoun Street. He was outside the Shambles at one of the European Games last season.Think he is living at a hostel in Longsight.

Lived in Rusholme for a while and had a mate called Johnny Muir who lived in the Birch Villa pub opposite Roy Clarke`s sports shop on the corner of Dickenson Road.

Hard man is right ,sad to hear that he has fallen on bad times

He was on the football special to Leeds on the 9th March 1974 the day Glasgow Rangers visited Old Trafford, only about 100 city supporters were on that train. When he was asked how he felt about the low numbers travelling to Elland road given the fact there would be a welcoming committee there waiting?his reply was totally fearless saying the worst that could happen was to die. When we arrived in Leeds there mob was waiting outside the station and we had a flimsy police escort with infiltation from the Leeds yobs along the way. There was a City fan on the train and think his name was Sully or Scully who never made the train back rumour being it due to being attacked and put into hospital.I remember he was from Stretford and loyal City daft and was wearing white skinners and Doc Martin boots,I never saw him again after that so perhaps a fellow blue here could confirm one way or the other. So Paddy wasn't the only brave soul travelling there that day. When we finally reached the ground the city fans had dwindled with muggings against our fans happening around the stadium.Seem to remember a couple of blues being kicked off the football special for our return journey home with lots of horror stories of our treatment at the hands of the Leeds thugs. Before we left for Leeds Manchester was full of Glasgow Rangers supporters who were still in town when we arrived back.We exchanged scarves with there supporters who were everywhere?EAT YOUR HEARTOUT BRAVEHEART YA LADS WERE THERE FIRST.

There were lots more characters them days, nobody cared about banning orders, they didnt exist and if you got nicked you got a fine ,end of. Remember Sully and although i havent seen him recently he was still going throughout the 80s 90s 2000s. Lots of Blues sacked Leeds that day and stayed in town with Rangers. City/Rangers wasted the rags in Yates after the game on Oldham st.(one of 3 blob shops at that time). Crazy days i wouldnt change. Most older Rangers fans still like City their younger lot like Chelsea.

Sully still goes was with him in wetherspoons in brum before WBA, still a bit of a lad but like all of us getting older, lives in Wigan now.
Paddy is the down and out you see in town, believe me if you went away with paddy and you ran he would seek you out later and batter you, after Les Tate the hardest blue iv ever known, by the way hes gay as well, not that he ever bothered anybody
