Fine Margins, rub of the Green, and Shocking Officials

Not sure if this falls under "rub of the green" because I'm not sure if that is the case, but can anyone give me a comprehensive reason why is it we are awarded fewer free kicks than any other team in the Premier League? Are we really "fouled" less?

So far this season we have been awarded 268 Free Kicks which is not just the lowest of any team but by far away the lowest. Not just in the Premier League as well - we receive fewer free kicks per game than any other team in the main European leagues.

From our closest rivals in the PL the table for so far this season is:

City 268
United 354
Arsenal 373
Chelsea 389
Liverpool 407

Oh, it was the same last season as well...
One reason could be because we keep the ball and roll it around at snails pace so it's easier for teams to sit off us and let us play about for 35 passes before we actually look to threaten.

Look at the two most fouled teams there - they're both a lot more counter-attacking teams than we are, they break from deep and at pace. They are teams who have to be brought down when they go on the counter or they'd score about 6 breakaway goals a game.

We just don't have players who will run at the opposition.

Your 1st point was my original thought but it doesn't impact in the same way on other teams who have high possession.

Not sure about the counter attack either - might surprise you that we have more attempts from counter attacks than any other team in the PL this season. 50% more than Liverpool, 75% more than Arsenal and mroe than double Chelsea. As a consequence, we have scored far more counterattack goals than any other team.

That's not true tho. Statisically, Arsenal run at players far more than anyone and then we are just behind Liverpool and Chelsea.

Maybe we have more attemtps from counter attacks because we haven't been fouled on the way to having the attempt like the other teams and that's why they have higher foul counts.

:)))

Although not as extreme it was a similiar situation under Mancini as well. We had 2nd fewest free kicks in 2012/2013 and far fewer than all the other top teams.

Ah well..

I'm shocked at the "acceptance" on here by many of the many shit decisions that go against us on an almost weekly basis now.

Our performances are completely separate and to claim we dont deserve anything because we have been poor of late is just ridiculous when the laws of the game say otherwise.

I'm not accepting anything. But i'm afraid sitting here, there is fuck all i can do about it. ;-)

lets be honest they dare not give us the rub of the green. we would win the title every year , the premier league would become stale, the plastics world wide would not tune in and the advert revenue would drop to unacceptable levels. can you imagine our side if we had a free run to sign any player we choose. there would be hell to pay. we have only just fallen short this year and we've been abysmal, had we been give the correct decisions over the campaign we may still have nicked it. that was never going to be allowed. our owners have got most things absolutely right, but not challenging platini in court is imo a big mistake. all the teams around us have strengthend on the back of platini cheating we should have blocked that.

We are not going to win the league every season if we defend like we have this year,no matter how many dodgy decisions go against us.

I agree but put the 12 points on our tally (that's conservative) that we have been cheated out of and things look a whole lot better. for a start pellers would still have his job.
