One reason could be because we keep the ball and roll it around at snails pace so it's easier for teams to sit off us and let us play about for 35 passes before we actually look to threaten.Pablo ZZZ Peroni said:Not sure if this falls under "rub of the green" because I'm not sure if that is the case, but can anyone give me a comprehensive reason why is it we are awarded fewer free kicks than any other team in the Premier League? Are we really "fouled" less?
So far this season we have been awarded 268 Free Kicks which is not just the lowest of any team but by far away the lowest. Not just in the Premier League as well - we receive fewer free kicks per game than any other team in the main European leagues.
From our closest rivals in the PL the table for so far this season is:
City 268
United 354
Arsenal 373
Chelsea 389
Liverpool 407
Oh, it was the same last season as well...
Look at the two most fouled teams there - they're both a lot more counter-attacking teams than we are, they break from deep and at pace. They are teams who have to be brought down when they go on the counter or they'd score about 6 breakaway goals a game.
