Fine Margins, rub of the Green, and Shocking Officials

People need to stop blaming "luck" and "officials" . The brutal, honest truth is that our Manager is simply nowhere near good enough. He won two trophies with a team he inherited last season...if you want to talk about "luck" you could say he got lucky Liverpool fucked the season up so badly in the end.

He got found out big time this season. His formation, team selection, constant changes in the back 4 and his borderline lunatic substitutions at times make me seriously doubt his sanity.

Let's not even begin talking about the fact that he changed a team that had the best defensive record in the League to a team that ANY team can beat or about the fact that he obviously cannot motivate this team to anything anymore.

What are the stats vs Mourinho now? P10, W1, L7, D2? Not sure but it's something along those lines. I know some of the 10 have been managing Villareal, but even so the numbers don't make good reading.

How about W1 D2 L0 in the last 3.

Or W1 D0 L0 in the game 2nd from last game???? He's won 1 in 10, that's the bottom line.

The fact is he's been completely outwitted by the better managers, of which Mourinho is only one.

If you want to slag the gaffer off then do it on his thread. This one is for discussing the shit officiating we have suffered.

The table never lies we are told on here many times.

Our inability to beat QPR, Stoke, Burnley x 2, Hull and now Palace has cost us 15 points this season....look no further!

We didn't get the rub of the green last night but neither did they at our place.

We can use whatever excused we like but the top and bottom of it is that the manager and players simply haven't delivered.

It basically evened itself out over the 2 games.

Not sure how you conclude that. At our place, their disallowed offside goal would have made it 2-1. They are still losing. Whereas on Mon, they had an offside goal allowed and we had a stone-dead penalty denied. Assuming we score the penalty, that makes the score 2-1 in our favour.

I think it's probably evening itself out. We did get some big decisions and nice bounces go our way last year, and this year we are getting terrible decision and really unlucky bounces.

One of those things really.

The OP is exactly right we have been the victims of some shocking decisions that have cost us points.

Unfortunately for some fans it's very binary, black or white, no shades of grey. For these fan the fact that we are nine points behind Chelsea means we are doing sh*t and a complete overhaul is needes including the manager.

For the more pragmatic amongs us who recognise that things are never that simple we recognise that whilst our form has dropped from last season a combination of terrible bad luck, scousers scoring two worldy's in one match being a case in point, and referees absolute reluctance to give us any decisions that could change a result. (burnley being a massive case in point, that point alone would have put us above the rags) mean that we are battling now to get 2nd - but the reality is that given more even handed refereeing and a slight increase in performance, we would have been strongly challenging for the title yet again.

Ok,

More of the same, and i'm neither deluded nor blinded by my blue tinted specs, for 15 - 20 minutes we were excellent, one up, and could or should have been more, then the game turned...

De Gea rushes out and just beats Navas to the ball, one almighty hoof, hits Bogbrush on the back of the head, the cross comes in , admittedly poorly defended, Tom Daley gets there first, makes a hash of it, very luckily fall back perfectly for him, and from about 2 yards out, manages to hit the inside of the post, but still score. Heads drop, understandably, but not acceptable, Bogbrush then scores himself, despite being, and i quote Ratboy, " on the edge of offside" No he wasn't, he was offside, but hey ho, we don't get decisions like that. What a coincidence Mata then scores when he too was "on the edge of offside", so much so that Neville actually had to change it to "well no actually he was offside", but lets not make a fuss about it

From an promising start, the game turned, and yet again we flattered to deceive, and with a few exceptions our players were anonymous, and questionable at best. I accept ultimately we got what we deserved......NOTHING!

Having said that, fine margins, and rub of the green, and Twattenberg ain't getting away scottfree, he was, as used to be the norm, very dubious, and certainly not even handed, he gave them every 50/50, and then his cards came out, but nothing for them

Anyway, i am biased, not deluded, and hopefully things can only get better

Agree completely but there is blood in the water and we have more than enough sharks following us right now that they couldn't give a fuck.

Although I mainly agree with this, none of this explains why we were tactically outplayed and showed no heart or ability to get our heads up again
