I'm trying to get a feel for when Wolves may be based on what games Sky already have scheduled for those midweeks. I suspect they will try to avoid having a couple of really significant games on the same evening as that will split viewing figures for each game in terms of neutrals and impact on advertising revenue. We can't play on either Tuesday as we play on the preceding Sunday of both weeks. That leaves:Yes, your latter point is why I think we would prefer the game in that last midweek on or around 18th. We shall see…
Wednesday 11th Leeds v Chelsea on Sky
Thursday 12th Spurs v Arsenal on Sky
Wednesday 18th No PL games currently scheduled - Europa League final is on that night
Thursday 19th May Chelsea v Leicester on Sky
I'd say there's zero chance of Sky wanting us playing at the same time as the North London derby - they will want that as the only game of the evening.
I don't know what the protocol is for playing on the same night as the EL final. UEFA have been more flexible in allowing PL games to be played on the same nights as their competitions this season but I'm not sure that would stretch to a final. And if West Ham get there, BT wouldn't be too happy if Sky wanted to screen a big PL game that night.
I reckon our visit Wolves may be on the same night as one of the Chelsea games so either Wednesday 11th or Thursday 19th. Not sure that playing Thursday then Sunday to end the PL season is ideal but having a free midweek following the Newcastle game on the 8th would be welcome after the chaotic schedule and relentless big games. There are pros and cons to playing in both of the possible midweeks.
