Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Not sure a CWC would be attractive as there's no depth to club football around the world.

it's a great idea but look at the format now, assorted 'minor 'teams play each other then the champions of Europe/S America go over and play in the final, it's all a bit zzz.

Even if spiced up half the S American teams & all non-European teams will just be fodder.
For now but given the riches on offer they would soon be able to compete

You don't know that. Der SPiegel could have got their information elsewhere. That it suits Bayern etc is obvious, but coincidence does not equal cause. People always make this mistake.

That’s true Marvin. My opinion is that Bayern are driving this given all the articles I have read. It would be quite a coincidence for them not to be involved imho.

They couldn't see through ffp & it's doubtful they'll see through whatever comes next.

But the cartel have a difficult job shitting on City, without shitting on themselves with the same rules. Stuff like this is aimed at pegging us back, to give them all time to regroup & catch up, like our transfer/squad reductions from last time, which gave Utd a lifeline.
Just like ffp originally.
Our owners actually accelerated their plans then. Maybe they should concentrate on what they individually should do rather than relying on group strategy that frankly slows them down to their slowest member if speed or financial future is an issue.

It certainly looks like it's Bayern, probably acting on behalf of their pals in Merseyside, Trafford, Islington, Madrid and Turin as well.

I actually feel a bit sorry for UEFA here. They're in a situation they maybe can't win, it seems. On the one hand they've got the powerful clubs agitating for a European Super League. That's nothing new incidentally, it's the threat that's been dragged up every time that greedy ex-G14 group want a bigger share of the pie. Expansion of the CL, introdcution of the group stages, seedings and the latest concessions of having 16 guaranteed slots in the group stages for the 4 big leagues. On the other they've got FIFA and its Club World Cup, which is seemingly designed to be the antithesis to the European Super League. And now they've potentially got us to worry about, who can take them down.

On the Mail website today is an article headlined "HMRC warn Manchester City it will be 'relentless in pursuing' club if they have tried to evade paying tax". There's a shot of the inside of the Etiahd with the caption "Manchester City will be 'pursued relentlessly' if they failed to pay their share of tax". Yet no quotes by HMRC mention City at all and refer only to any club transgressing.

I'll leave it to fellow Bluemooners to decide whether there's any agenda or not.

Idiots, who only read the headlines, will believe it though.

Mate let's be honest about one thing. Our owners are as greedy as anybody else. They aren't pushing for the CWC for the spirit of football. These people don't amass billions by giving money away for free.

Beyond that, if a CWC impacts City positively and our rivals negatively, I'm all for it. It's a ruthless world, but as Pep says, 'it is what it is.'
Exactly, our owner invested in City so that money has a business plan to maximise its profitability.
As with any sector of business or industry if options occur the one that makes the most profit usually prevails.

If enough money was chucked at a worldwide competition which covered a full league season, with huge sponsorship money, it would be possible to quickly finance a couple of clubs in South America, Central America, a club in USA, India, China who could pay top players & managers to play there, provided it was a serious high standard worldwide competition, rather than relying on a lower standard domestic one.

Then if it was backed by FIFA.

Neymar playing for a Brazillian team, in a world club competition, & Messi for an Argentinian one, would not be short of viewers.

Strangely I felt a bit sorry for them first time around too with the original FFP. They gave an inch and ECA took a mile. Not that I’m a fan of UEFA either.

It’s getting like boxing with multiple boards and fighters that don’t want to fight each other but want guaranteed money. The officiating is getting similar too!
