Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

It was initially, and then the scheme got hi-jacked and used by the big clubs so that rather than prevent another Leeds, they concentrated on preventing another Chelsea.
Perhaps I was unclear, the original intent was to prevent clubs going in to administration, thereafter it became a tool to maintain the status quo. A stepping stone to a European League that demands a fixed group of teams

It didn't just become, UEFA were strong armed into it by their cash cows because a focus on debt would've meant the scrutiny was on them.

I have to be honest, I really would have preferred it if the club had just failed ffp back then by whatever amount it was and just publicly said "yeah, we failed it. We couldn't give a toss though as our long term plan is still the right one". Given PSG still would have failed by far more than we would have ever done and that we could always have gone to court about FFP in general had the punishment been too stringent, I'd rather we'd just have been honest.

Personally I've got two issues with us not doing that and what came out in the leaks. Firstly, it's detracted completely from the good press we were getting (and we were getting a fair bit of it) for our business model over the past few years and getting to a profitable place. I've read numerous articles about the CFG and how innovative we were actually being, and showing us in a particularly good light to other clubs stuck in old ways of working and mountains of debt.

The second bit is it has made me doubt that good news story about the road to profitability foo, in terms of it did make me wonder if those practices were just to try and get us to pass FFP that year or did they continue past that point. I really hope they didn't.

All of that is just an aside from the gist of this thread and I've never thought for a second that UEFA would do anything about it. They can't, the only thing they can possibly even try and investigate is the Mancini payments and even then they're on very dodgy ground.

Where were we not honest?
The only dishonest party were UEFA who changed the rules once we filed our documents to make sure we failed

What a naive view that a process of all stick and no carrot with no support was going to be beneficial to anybody that needed it?
but i read a report that the FA was congratulating itself on FFP because dept had been reduced, it did not matter that this was because of TV money. So perhaps the FA are Naive as well?

The time has now come for MCFC to take the bull by the horns. We should tell UEFA to either tell us what they are going to do about these leaks, which they have obtained illegally by first thing Monday morning by 9.00am GMT. If they do not do this and they can expect a summons in due course, for theft, in the Crown Court of Manchester. Where shall be seeking damages in the region of £25m. This being for all the bad publicity that there has been about MCFC. It's time to show the leaders of UEFA that we will not be bulled by their tactics.

So first of all you want City to publicly acknowledge that the emails are legit?

Secondly, UEFA probably don't have the emails and haven't done anything we could take them to court for (this time).
