Hi All, I'm a complete novice when it comes to car mechanics and I'm in need of some help. I've got an 03 1.8 Zetec Mondeo which over the last 2 weeks has developed a ticking noise from the drivers side of the engine when accelerating through 1500 - 2000 rpm, it also stutters a bit.

I've checked the oil and coolent levels and they are fine. There's no mix of oil and water that I can see so I'm hopeful it's not the Head Gasket.

I've trawled through google but can't get a definitive answer. Please help

You're probably better off posting this on the PistonHeads forum.

The ticking is probably an explosive device crudely taped to the underside of your vehicle. Drive straight to your nearest police station and run in shouting "I'VE GOT A BOMB!!, I'VE GOT A BOMB!!"

Glad to be of assistance...

Next time you cup your hand to your ear to listen to the ticking noise. Take your watch off first. I'm no mechanic but think this will solve your problem. Your welcome

You haven't put a wooden lolly stick in your front wheel and forgot have you?

Turn your radio up.

Or check out your fuel injection system. Or do what I did and rip it off and replace with a set of quad carbs.

Ford Mondeo, eh? You see, that's where you went wrong. Every two bit sales rep up and down the country are driving Mondeos. You should really have opted for the Focus. Classic, understated. It's the vehicle of choice for all discerning, well heeled individuals.

How are you getting on with that Suburu Impreza Jim?

Chav's car Wally. Rich chav, but chav nonetheless. Burberry fluffy dice, a packet of Lambert and Butler on the dash and a chunky gold sovereign ring and D&G sunglasses in the glove compartment. Subaru, by the way.
