I think it maybe The Eagle,the film that stars Channing Tatum.
It's right at the start of the film,where Barbarians are attacking a Roman fort.
A cohort of Roman legionaries march out to meet the Barbarians outside the fort and are ordered to form Testudo so they are ready to meet the Barbarians charge.

It was a real tactic of Romans, probably appears in several films. From what I gathered from brief research, no evidence it was used by Spartans, specifically at thermopylae or in general.

Vaguely recall it being in 300, but obviously it is a comic book adaptation and not in any way meant to be historically accurate.
