Here's the press statement that a non-corrupt organisation that isn't covering its own back would have released:

"We are concerned to hear accusations that a former referee was told to change aspects of his match report. We take any allegations of corruption seriously and will be meeting with Mark to investigation his claims."

Instead, it couldn't have been denied without consideration faster if it was an accusation against the Putin regime.
