Putting the ball in the right place and letting others excel. Xavi was average looked at in isolation. He's also a great passive defender, constantly blocking the most dangerous passing lanes.

I just don't see it personally.

If Pep wants him then fair enough but imo there are a lot of players who would bring more, in different aspects.

all this silly talk
they did a survey in the middle east about Fred , flint and stones, believe it or not anyway
the people in Dubai didn't like Fred flint or stones
however
the people in Abu Dhabi do

aaaaaaaaaahahhahahahaha
:)

Brilliant!

Bernardo Silva is obviously the long term replacement and judging him against Merlin is unfair because he's a) settled b)playing in the actual position being discussed c) has the weight of everything he's achieved in a City shirt backing him up.

I'm sure given time Bernardo will be every bit as special, in his own unique way. Marti Perarnau gave an interview where he said Pep believes Bernie will be one of the 2 or 3 best players in the world in a couple of years, and if Pep thinks that then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Interesting. When did he say that? Was it on Ahsan's podcast?

Yep. Marti said that City couldn't believe they got him for so cheap (compared to how much they rate him) and people would realize his value in a couple of years. Considering we bought him for 43 million pounds (pre-Neymar), which is not exactly low, I'm guessing that they think he'll easily be worth 200-250 millon in a few seasons.

Agreed. The last thing we need to worry about is Silva retiring. We are absolutely stacked in that position (beyond Bernardo).

True, Weigl is far, far better at picking the right passes to start and continue attacks though. Stop watching him and start watching what happens in the areas he plays the ball into.

This...Weigl is much more of a DM in Pep's image (not necessarily what Pep wants but what Pep was when he played).

I thought this was a thread about my next door neighbor. He’s a 60 year old postman that is about to retire, but he’s still more mobile than Yaya!

Seen as though the thread is about the Shakhtar player, it’s a definite yes from me
